88JeepXJ

I'm just trying to get a feel for the market.
My buddy just bought a new truck ('06 Trailblazer SS...that thing RIPS!) and he doesn't know what he is going to do with the XJ. I'm involved because this is my old Jeep, and my first car ever so I have a sentimental attachment.
It is a light blue '88 Pioneer (body colored trim) with about 150k miles. It has about 25k miles (I think) on a ballzy 4.7 stroker ('88 bottom end with Hesco kit, and ported HO head with oversized Chevy valves and performance cam). He also recently installed a No-Slip locker into the upgraded C8.25 (27 spline), HD SYE kit (not H&T), and new BFG ATs (30"). It has new HD Quadratec leaf springs and a RR BB (about 2" front and 2.5" rear) and all new suspension bushings.
Bad:
It probably needs front ball joint(s), clunking
It probably needs a new front vac actuator, 4wd doesn't engage
It probably needs a new shift computer, auto trans usually doesn't shift right but works fine manually engaging gears (he's been driving it like this for months so it isn't impossible).
It has a lot of door and lower panel rot (but nothing major under the doors amazingly)
Gutted interior but is rot-free (he replaced lots of floor a few years ago) and bedlined
He isn't going to part this out, and I agree with him because he has no place to keep it and neither of us want this good 'ol Jeep to be crushed. He is either going to sell it as-is for the right price or keep it and turn it into an offroad only XJ. I'd love to see someone buy this, fix it up and use it as a DD offroader.
I think $3000 could get him to sell but no idea if it is worth it. Any ideas or offers?
