231 oil pump questions

I am installing a AA/SYE kit in my 231 with a terra 4:1 and 2 wheel low shift kit. When I was putting the cover back on the chain/gear/oil pump I cracked 1 of the oil pump outside pauls. I also noticed after that, that the new main output shaft is 1/16 to long. Has any one had any of these issues? I am thinking of grinding down the end of the output shaft that sits in the berrings. Any help would be appreciated.
