Vehicle: 91 cherokee 4x4 with 4.0

This is the order that my problem has occurred:

1. began to take longer than normal to start
2. about a week later be became very difficult to start and every once
in a while would stutter when taking off from a stop.
3. a few days later one morning on the way to work vehicle started losing
power going up hills.
4. next day became progressivly worse sputtering, backfire through
exhaust.
5. friend checked vehicle out and said two cylinders had only 50psi.
6. had a valve job done
7. put head back on
8. now runs rough at idle, high rpms runs smooth, but when i take it out
on the road it sputters and won't run over 20 mph.
9. Timing is good, changed out the distributor, coil, computer.

Any ideas? Maybe someone can give me some direction?

long crank time would suggest the fuel pump could be failing. low fuel pressure may make it sputter. also check to see if you have sufficient vacuum. if not the convertor may be clogged.

THANKS GUYS,,,,,,checked the fuel pressure and sure enough it was below specs,,changed out the fuel pump and runs like a rabbit now,,,,thanks for the help guys....
