Rear vs front axles

1 - The D30 is already a good axle and plenty strong.

2 - There are fewer options by far for a front axle swap. D44 and D60 or a custom Ford 9"

Like Tim said pretty much the only reason they talk about the rear axle is because there is such a wide array and options for rear axles, where as front axles is the 30, 44, 60, or rockwell for commonly found axles.

I would have to disagree here a little bit. There are a wide variety of different front axles as well but the ones listed above are the most common.

GM 8.5, D50, T8, Samurai, JK44, Ford 9" are a few others that are also common. Each has its place in the strength tree however parts can often be difficult to find.
