Does anyone know where i can find a winch bolt locker other than from tuffy?
it locks the bolts that hold the winch in place so that no one can steal the winch.

Thanks

Tack weld a bolt. :)

ya but i will eventually want to upgrade my winch. i dont want the hassle of breaking a weld to get the winch off.

Use tamper-proof hardware.

How long does it take to grind off a bolt with a grinder or a cut of wheel?

5mins?

How many people have grinders handy in a parking lot...and can use them without getting caught?

a small tack weld on one or two bolts is an acceptable method of theft deterant for winches. the load is spread over enough fasteners where the stress of the weld does not come into play. plus the location of the stressor (weld) is after the area on the fastener that is carrying the load. all thats needed is enough to goober up the thread preventing removal of the nut.

a alternative to a tac weld could be http://www.brycefastener.com/pentabolt.htm

brycefastener is a great idea but you have to spend atleast $50 to order anything.

Welding on Critical high load hardware can cause failure.

It is a tack weld nothing more and will not cause failure!!
