so i was working on the rear breaks on the xj and realized that i don't know what im doing lol. i took the one side apart and can't figure out how to put it back together even with the chilton manual. is there anyone in highlands ranch that could swing by tomorrow and lend me a hand with getting this thing back on the road?
i would really appreciate it.

If the other side is still intact, you have a mirror image of how the first one should look.

lol, looks like some of the guys from jeepforum may stop by and lend a hand. im going to weld up a tool this morning to help me get the stupid springs back in place that hold the shoes on.
i just have to say this, whoever invented drum breaks should be shot. and the automakers for taking so long to go to 4 wheel disks should be shot as well. these things are just way to complicated and have way to many moving parts.
think ill start messing with this again around noon once its warmed up.

You're welcome to come buy and borrow my brake tools if they'll help ya. I have the tool to remove/install the pad keeper springs and the leverage tool to remove/install the spanner springs.

Scrap the drums and upgrade to ZJ disc brakes. Easy upgrade and much improved braking.

got it done, all is good now, i will eventually do a disk conversion but money is tight and i still need to get it trail ready.
