I talked to a few guys about this including Andy. The two places I know will do gears are HOAKS 4WD and FULL CIRCLE. I am leaning twards FC because they have Andys good word, However Both places want upwards of $1200- DONE OUT THE DOOR, parts / Labor... completed ready to drive. I have priced different places to buy the gears and install kits but the numbers come out very close to the same. also... HOAKS will only use their own supplied parts. I'm putting this out there as there are a few of us in my area looking to have this done this year.

You may ask why I dont try my hand at this. REASON IS, I need to get to work the next day. My XJ is a DD so I need it done correctly and in a timely manner. So...

Do any of you fellers know of some other TRUSTWORTHY 4x4 places or knowlegable jeep folk that do gears in eastern PA or the surrounding area? At this point I'm prepared to bite the bullet and just get this done But you know how it works... I'll get this done and someone will say "Oh theres a place that does it for 950 over here".

Check out Endless Mountain Fab: http://www.endlessmtnfab.com/contact.php
Small shop- Joe is the owner, mechanic and answers the phone.
He's totally honest and won't beat around the bush, he doesn't want to waste his time or your time. He'll use your parts or order what you need- he put in a set of used D30 gears I had with his bearing and shim kit. I want to say when I had my gears done about 1.5 years ago, it ran me like $750? That was with overnighting a set of thick gears for a D44 cause I screwed up. Check it out anyhow, it's worth a phone call. If you like small shops, his is the place to be. If not, call somebody else. He'll stand behind his work 110%, and he only works on Jeeps, but he does great work.

If I was paying I would either have www.jeffdanielsjeeps.com do it or M&D racing in warminster do it, both places have done good work for me.

I'd have to suggest avoiding Jeff Daniels, I have heard some good things, but a lot of bad stuff, too. "The Jeep Shop" in Chester Springs has fixed a lot of their work, and did gears for a buddy at work. I know they do everything, lift kits, motor swaps, alignments, etc. http://thejeepshop.net/ Worth checking them out, tell them Jerry formerly from Quadratec suggested them if you call them. :)

Joe (Endless Mtn Fab) is a cool guy, I bought my TNT Y-Link from him. The only other people I know who do gears are in Delaware and generally do it part-time (aka, on a weekend) so that won't work for you.

Also try Appalachian Offroad in MD http://www.appalachianoffroad.com/ and "Adams Xtreme" www.adamsjeep.com John there has a huge XJ (I think it's down to 8" on 35s, was 10" with 37s).

At any rate, post up when it's over with your experiences. :)

I know the jeep shop does good work, I've just never priced them out. I checked out their shop at their old location before they moved. I'll try giving my old boss a call and see if he can talk to them and get a price, I think he's friends with the owner.

What do you want to know about EMS Offroad?

When I ran into issues self-regearing my XJ D44, Eric came to my house and helped me out.

EMS Offroad is awesome, Eric and the guys are awesome and his pricing is definitely reasonable.

I would suggest however purchasing the parts from him as well. He's all about yukon and he showed me why (they're the only ones out there with an install kit that actually has all the parts you need)

by the time I got done nickel and diming my installation to get that miserable D44 setup, I could have had the whole thing done in a few days for just a couple hundred bucks.

Eric's also very active in the fight for land use rights. (that's how I actually met the guy)

if nothin' else, go to his shop just to see his XJ on mog axles. It's for sale..

i heard he will do an 8.8 brackets and weld them on for 550, so I was wondering how he was on gears.

1375$ out the door Yukon brand D30 / 8.25... done right @ FULL CIRCLE (Pottstown PA)

Advise... save your money and have them throw the locker in while theyre at it. It'll save you $$$ later if youre to dumb to do it yourself (like me)

nope, I'm all open... but believe me, theres alot of crap thats going to get the funds before I drop cash on a locker.

I should have done it before hand... but I wanted this and that and the other thing which sucked up the money... oh and beer.

Joe Attardo at Endless mountain Fab is very good, reasonable prices too and you can bring your own parts. Joe is about 5 miles up the road from me and Blue mountain jeep has their lift parties there :D :D :D though it's been a while.
The other gear place is Performance Driveline, it's about 2 miles from Blue mountain Ski area. I've had work done there twice.

Be aware if you bring used gears to anyone to install the one thing they won't guarantee is that they will be quiet :D :D :D
