the only difference is that the thicker one has an extra row.

Thtat's what has me, not knowing which to buy....i've read some people think the 2 row is better and some think the 3 row is better.

I guess I can't go wrong, especially since my factory one has a crack in the side of it. :)

I've got a three row and like it. I still can't really tell you which one is better though. Reguardless, with a properly maintained cooling system you shouldn't have any over-heating issues with either of them.

I put a 3 row CSF in my cherokee last week, and I love it. Took her camping over the weekend, ran it hard up some hills on the way there, barely got over the 210 mark.

Do these radiators just drop in perfectly as OEM replacements?

YES ... I ordered the radiatorbarn.com 3-row radiator for my '91 XJ and it was a perfect fit. Just be aware that the 3-row is a little thicker, yeilding a little less fan clearance. But I had no problems whatsoever, and my radiator does great. Temp gauge needle is solid as a rock now.

BTW, it is hard to disconnect/connect the AW4 tranny lines? I don't see a way to do it.

the tranny lines require a special tool. It is a little plastic disconnect tool, I found a set at Napa for $6 (a little bag of plastic couple disconnectors). Or you could use a set like this:
