My sister offered us a doe permit on the farm where she lives and I gave (pushed) it to my wife so that she could get her first deer. First kill of any sort in fact-
It ended up pretty good, we walked out of my sisters place at about 6:45am and saw quite a few but my wife was shooting her open-sight lever action .357 rifle and needed to be close. Here is a picture of a few of the 60-or so deer we saw, look close and you will see that several are very nice bucks. And not the big ones either!

We were patient for a while an she took a shot at one but missed, then about 15 minutes later she took a second shot (from the same place) and got it right through the lungs and across the top of the heart. She grazed the shoulder on the near side and didn't hit any meat to speak of on the far side. Nearly perfect shot-

Anyway, we are back with over 30# of burger in the freezer already. We didn't waste any time cutting it up because we didn't want steaks or roasts, just burger.
Next month she goes on her first pheasant hunt, her birthday present :D
