Hello, first post here. I am looking to pickup an XJ, and recently found one I somewhat like. Just wanted to get some thoughts on the price and what to look for when I go check it out.

1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4 - (Current Price - $2,900):

-152,000 miles
-3inch suspension lift
-33x12.5x15 mud tires
-Cragar rock crawler rims with 4inch offset
-Pioneer CD player
-roof-top clearance lights
-CB Radio
-Class III Trailer hitch 2inch receiver

Parts recently replaced include:
+Radiator last winter
+Thermostat
+Blower motor
+Front brakes

Suspention lift parts:
+5inch dropped pitman arm
+Adjustable track bar
+Transfer case drop down kit
+New rear drive shaft

The bad:
"The rear hatch is damaged but still is functional. I do have another one that will go with the truck that is painted camouflage. The hatch needs a window to be installed."

PICS:

Just wanted to get some feedback on the truck and price. The front fenders look to be chewed up pretty nicely. I'm guessing from suspension flex, and how far the tires/wheels stick out. Front bumpers got a nice dent in it. Front and Rear trim/flares are gone for clearance. And I would need to get new glass and paint for the second tailgate that it comes with to replace the damaged one currently on the truck.

If I did pick it up, I'd want some wheels/tires that do NOT stick out that far. I would want them more flush with the body. I am looking to use the truck as a daily driver and primary winter vehicle since my other car (Mustang) is garaged until Spring/Summer.

So I would probably look into getting new fenders down the line, and swapping out the current wheel combo for something more along the lines of this setup (I love the look of this white XJ - shooting for something similar):

What do you think of this truck (the blue XJ above), is it worth $2,900? I was thinking more along the lines of $2,500 or less. Or do you think I can pickup something better in that price range ($2,500)?

Thanks for the help! Sorry for the long post, appreciate your time and advice.

I would definitely say 2500. Besides, if it has stock gears still you are going to hate that and want to go with 4.56's asap.

Shoot. As long as its not rusty, (looks clean from pics) I'd pay 2500 for it. Miles aren't too high. I think the wheel/tire combo is fine. Maybe just put some flares back on. But, that's just a matter of opinion. Good luck!

p.s. That's a very odd place to store a hatch for an XJ......

depends on the area i guess, cause around my area, thats a hell of a deal.
33''s are an ideal tires size. I think it looks awesome that way. probably wheels very nicely.

Here is CA that is a great price for a XJ that has been modified. That would actually be a good price for a stock XJ.
Not to Hijack but does anyone know what rims those are on the white XJ?

2500 is cool. Is that white jeep an option? I'd pick that one up it looks to have factory skids and two hooks...most likely trac loc/no-slip, tranny cooler tow package. Stuff to look for while your out shopping. Check inside glove boxes for WARNING this vehicle has a locking differential or something to that line. You will love having an already lifted Jeep but buying one that has good options stock such as the above you will appreciate alot more after lifted.

Rims look like maybe american racing or pro comp? idk def not cragars

Something does not look right here....If I'm not incorrect, that appears to be the older style steering sheel/airbag. Judging by the parts replaced and pictured damage, seems like it could have been in a wreck.

Thanks for all the quick replies many of you have provided, I really appreciate the help!

p.s. That's a very odd place to store a hatch for an XJ......Haha. I've done the same in the past with Mustang parts laying around, but never blocking couches, haha (usually in the corner of my room or closet).

Out of my price range, when dealing with a private seller. Otherwise I would love to pick it up!

I sent him an email asking about that as well as the front end damage (bumper pushed in above the plate frame) - to see if it was involved in any type of front end impact.

I'll probably go take a look at it this week to check it out in person, and see if he would do $2,500 - thanks for all the feedback guys, it has been a huge help for a Jeep Newbie! Glad I found this forum.

Nope, those are not steel wheels.

They look like the teflon coated aluminum wheels that Pro Comp makes.
