getting code 1898 and cant figure out the problem it will unlock in 4th after about 45 mph and wont lock back pls help me:flame: so sick of the aw4 this is my 4th transmission in 2 years

AW4 problem

The problem is probably not the transmission. If the problem is persisting despite swapping the tranny, the next step would be to swap the transmission computer that tells it when to shift and lock the t/c. Was the torque converter replaced as well?

With lockup it usually is either the computer or the T/C itself, not the trans. Overall the AW4 is reliable

A bad solenoid is more common that a bad TCU, but since he did swap trannies (or so the tranny shop told him?)

replaced computer torque converter and complete transmission it has a converted toyota tranny in it with the aw4 guts runs smooth till 4th end had the solonoids replaced still doing it
