First some background: I work with dusch bags and the hate my xj, some this guy tells me that his 94 jimmy cant beat my Xj in the later mentioned categories, I said no way now weOk guys so now I've got a $300 bet going on with this a$$ hole jimmy driver, he claims that his truck can beat my 98 classic in these 3 categories
1. Comfort of ride
2. Off-road capability
3. Appearance
So heres the deal I'm prepared to lose the comfort of ride category (ofcourse), but off-road and appearance I know I can beat him, both of us have some front end damage and need some mods, the only difference is he has the mula to do it, I do not. Im going with a RE 4.5 super flex lift, warrior products front bumper with d-rings, and I'm gonna put stock fender flares back on, 32" BFG M/T on micky T rims, and lastly red or white rock crawler led lights.
Heres where I need some help does anyone know where I can find this stuff for cheap, I've been looking but just wanted some input. Also does anyone have classic style fender flares they would be willing to sell of a right front fender.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated

ride comfort- yeah he has you beat but you'll walk all over him on the trail. Its all about taste but i'll choose the looks of my 97 XJ over a 94 jimmy anyday of the week. Even if he lifts his you'll kill him with a stocker! Tell him to get his garbage outta there and call it a day! I mean how many jimmy's do you see on the trail as oppsed to XJ's you do work with some douchebags!

This is a stupid bet because 2/3 categories (ride comfort and appearance) are subjective.
Off road is the only one that can truly be measured. Some like a firmer ride, some like a softer ride, and everyone has different opinions on what looks good.

I'm not even sure off-road performance can be measured.
Dude, who cares. Let this douchenozzle think his POS is better than your POS.

I drove a 94 Jimmy before my XJ.
Comfort, hands down the Jimmy has a better ride, it's IFS and weighs more. Its smoother on the road. Plus the seats were cushier and the interior is bigger. (its a bigger truck overall).
Off road capablity, while at Paragon with a buddy who had his equally stock XJ I had to drive slower, the cycling of the IFS up and down made me bottom out on the rocks more often, it had no trouble getting there i just couldnt take the terrain as fast.
Looks is subjective, there is no way to argue this one way or the other... My Jimmy looked good with a full brush guard, I would never put one on an XJ, the jimmy looked better stock, the XJ is pritter to me with at least a little lift.

Theres a trail about 5 min from my work, us and a couple of other employes (who think that I wasted my money on an xj and should have bought a taurus) were gonna go there for the offroad test. I could not make it throuhg stock, so I think after the lift and mudds ill be fine. He wont spend the money to properly lift his (he will get bigger leafs, and fiddle with the torsion bars) so Im sure hes gonna get stuck, when that happins I'm gonna hook up to him and rip his truck apart, :scottm: is that to rough?

I think you need to stop worrying about what other people think about your ride.

......Yeah. Hook your 3100 lb unibody XJ to a 3800+ lb full frame Jimmy and watch the carnage...... to your poor XJ. Be sure to hook up to it, back up and get a running start.
Time to grow up Jr. And if you refuse to...... PLEASE take lots of video of this stupidity so that others may learn from your silliness.

There is no way to win. After the lift and stuff its all still personal opinion. He might break down with the torsion bars being WAY to cranked but just deal with your co workers and just be cool.

Just give the guy his $300. Unless you don't have it and made a bet you couldn't afford to pay since you have already said you don't have any cash to out into your rig. If they all hate your XJ do you really think they'll agree that your rig looks better, rides better, or off-roads better?

You can say something to the effect of, "This is childish, I like my XJ, go have fun with your IFS. No one converts to IFS." :dunno: I know that I, personally, wouldn't blow $300 on a stupid bet.

So let me see if I have this strait.
You want to buy a new bumper, lift, wheels tires, and rock lights.
All for a $300 bet? Me thinks you havent priced out the above mentioned items.
Grow up, and learn to ignore what other people say about your vehicle of choice.

These are things I was planning on doing before the summer, my origional post was to see if anyone was selling fender flares or knew where I could find cheap parts, but I think something got lost in my ignorance. lol

Yeah, think about it. If this guy has a slammed XJ, I'm sure that he hears a lot of crap (not that I care if it's slammed, but you get the idea).
Why don't you just send me that $300 right now. It'd be just enough to get my rig almost 100%.
