should there be alittle side to side play on the ujoint between the tabs on the yoke? if not is it common for the yoke to wear there and cause vibation? its a new ujoint and yes it has grease in it and yes it is the right size

When everything is tighten, there should be zero play. Did you replace the straps?

No,I usually take extra care to clean that area out whenever re-installing a driveshaft just to make sure it fits down all the way and tight! It typically involves scraping and a wire brush.
 
Keep your old one for a spare, thats one think few people tend to carry a spare of, and an common brake. Think of how much beer you can trade it for on the trail if some one needs one :gee:
