OK, we aren't mind readers. How many conductors, what colors, male/female, gauge of the wires?

Possibly fog lights or for a second radiator fan? Why not do the key-on-key-off thing and read the engine code?

I have one on my 95 too... it's got like 5 conductors and sits between the air filter and the fender... I dunno what it is for..

Yes, let us know the colors of the wires, and how many there are, and we will help you.

You don't need anything special to read the codes. http://www.jedi.com/obiwan/jeep/dtc.html

Solid green and solid black - do you have an auxiliary electric fan? The one on the driver's side? If so, I have a feeling it never comes on because that sounds a lot like the plug for it...

yes it does. or if it had one the temp sensor in the radiator.

It sounds alot like the connector to the electric fan. it should run up underneath where you add antifreeze into the radiator. the fan connector usually sits right there inbetween the fan and that cap right there.
