How many guns must one own in order to be a certified 'gun-nut'?
My friend said that the qualifying number is when you have six and say, "it's only a few, but there's new (fill in the blank) down at gun shop that I really want to get".

When you have to sell the small safe that you bought for a larger one because it's too full to continue adding guns, then I think you become a "gun-nut/collector."

Are you looking for everyone's opinion, or is this a trick question? :D
I have 4, and have at least 5 more that I'd like to have - within reason. Of course I wouldn't mind having 70, if money wasn't a limiting factor....
I think it depends where you live. In Illinois, you're probably a "nut" if you have a gun magazine.
Where I come from, I'm a p*ssy because I don't have at least 10 already :D

I would say its up to the company you keep. I own 5, 3 riffles one musket one handgun, and my lady thinks i have "too many" but some people here would say I have nothing.

I know guys (yes, that's plural) that have over 1000 in their collections. And no, they aren't dealers. They are collectors.

Well, my friend was teasing me this afternoon. He asked me how many guns I own, and I said, "six, but I have my eye on a certain Springfield M1 to cover the medium/long range needs".

I don't think you actually have to own any.
How many NASCAR race cars do you have in your garage?
Like any hobby, there are many facets to being a "gun nut".

I have a co-worker who would probably blow Obama if given the chance....
Funny thing is, now HE (yes he) is buying up all sorts of guns....
...I laugh at the irony there....

Wait you sell your Gun Safe when it gets too small? I just put a new one in the next room and repeat the process.

Bert from the Tremors movies is my Hero. Unfortunately, I only have one Ruger 10/22. I have more important things to spend my money on right now.

Nobody should own firearms. That's why I sold some of mine to a black dude named Capone in AZ. Easier on my family when the Obama SS comes to the door looking for them. The ones I didn't sell got lost in the boat fire during the hurricane.

I have two pistols more than I want (now that I bought my Glock 22)
I NEED a Remington 700 and I'll be done. I have a total of 8.
I like my guns, but as far as the "FUN" factor, it is pretty low.
It's not like the XJ, TV, or the computer. Those things you can use and enjoy everyday.
Oh the two pistols are the Beretta 92FS and a Taurus PT-140.
The Beretta is a great gun, but it's a 9mm but I like the Glock 22 that I just got better.
The PT-140 is a very nice gun, but it was replaced by a Glock 27.

you only need one gun to be a gun nut. You just need to carry it in the front of your pants for reasons other than safety.

I own a few, but have lose count. I planned one of my R&Rs from Iraq couple years ago around a gun show in Nashville, TN.

According to our esteemed congresspeople, nobody needs a gun, and they're dangerous, so why would you want to own one. You'd have to be some kind of a loon.
That means if you own ONE gun, you're some kind of nut.(-May include pepper spray in some states where a firearm ownership card is required to purchase "defensive sprays")
