I'm not sure if anyone else here is as big a fan of the Dark Knight as I am, or the Joker character in general, but for those that are I thought I would share some info. The scene where Commissioner Gordon gets shot at you can see Heath Ledger's face briefly for 2 seconds from 1:02 08-10secs. I'm sure plenty of you know this, but coming nearly a year after his death it is a very creepy and disturbing image to look at. It really gives you the feeling that he was completely taken over by this role. I believe along with a lot of others that this was the major contributing factor to his death.
I snapped the pic below with my camera since I couldn't figure out how to copy the image from my movie player. Sorry its a little blurry.

Btw, the only reason I'm posting this at 10 in the morning is I'm in one of my b.s. classes at school and extremely bored lol.

I don't know, I see these peckerheads offing themselves for no good reason, like that german billionaire yesterday that decided to become a smudge on a train, boo hoo, he went from a value of 60 billion to 24 billion. Then there is that looser Hunter Thompson, could go on and on.

He is an actor, he wouldn't be a very good actor if he wasn't able to convince the viewers that he is who he is playing.
The major cause of his death is that he was a junkie and took to much. Like RichP said, just another rich guy who thought his posh life was to hard for him to go on living.

i don`t condone suicide mostly because of the people that are left to deal with the pain. but being a big scooter head all my life,i`ve been familiar with hunter thompson for years.
he was actually in very declining health, hurt horribly, and just got tired of fighting it i guess.
if i remember right,it was a .45 cal in his kitchen.

Two Face was a great character, but the hole time I was looking at him I was just thinking holy crap those special effects on his face are crazy. I thought Joker was a better character overall.

So Jester...you are saying he killed himself because he was too caught up in his role as the Joker? That doesn't make any sense. The Joker liked himself...he thought he was the best criminal.
This was one of my favorite movies, and I agree, I think the Joker was one of the best roles I've seen in a movie. Too bad Heath isn't around to do the 3rd which was supposed to be the trial of the Joker.

I think it inadvertently led to his death . The people that were close to him have stated that he was having a very hard time breaking out of the character after the movie. From what I know, he prepared for the role by locking himself in a hotel room for a month without seeing anybody. Reading old comic books...speaking like him, acting like him, eating like him etc. He was staying up late to the point of exhaustion perfecting the character. Also, running on little sleep to get into the crazy, psychotic mind frame of the Joker. This is how he got hooked on sleep meds and painkillers. The guy was not a junkie or drug addict. I could go on and on, but there are plenty of interviews and news articles out their about this if anyone wants to know more.
Here's a good one to start with...

No man, not at all. This is a bad joke on someone's part. That is a soundbyte ripped directly out of Batman when Jack Nicholson played the Joker. I think its right after he set that guy on fire with the hand buzzer thing.

I don't see what made the Dark Night so great. I agree Ledger did a good job portraying the Joker, but I found the movie to be just too long, and it really didn't hold my attention too well. It really didn't do too much for me.

just to clarify, as I understand it, he was prescribed 2 (or more) different drugs which when taken together could cause complications, including death (obviously) Again from what I understand, when you get drugs in the US there is not tracking to see what else you are on, and what conflicts may occur between each of the drugs.
So him taking 2 different drugs was the problem, whether or not he understood the possible effects, I dunno.
on topic;
I thought the movie was great. Too long? With all the crap movies out nowadays I appreciate a good movie that keeps me seated for a little longer than normal, I want my monies worth.
Heath did a great job, but hey it was his job, so however much he put into becoming the character, well good on him. Side note, the rumour I heard was that he spent 6 months visiting/living with AIDs victims. Rumours, who knows what real.
Good movie, looking forward to the next one. Feel bad for whoever they get to play Joker this time tho, big shoes to fill.

I really hope they don't try to do another film with the Joker. The next film is suppose to be based on his trial. It would not live up to what Heath did with the character. Johnny Depp might come close, but I think they should leave it alone. Personally, I like what Heath did, but to me Jack Nicholson is the ultimate Joker.

I also hope they don't try to bring that role back. I've heard Depp's name come up as well but while he could probably fit it pretty well, it's just not the same.

Too bad about Ledger. 'Didn't really follow the story, but it sounded like he made some bad decisions that ended up killing him. I doubt he drove himself mad to "get in character" though. Was it ruled suicide or accidental?

Agreed. I just watched the movie last night. My impressions?
Thank god I didn't go to a theater to watch this. I would have walked out. Paused it 2 or 3 times the last hour so I could get through it.
Batman: Ok
Joker: Ok/good
Gordon: Fair
Dent/twoface: Eh,..
Entire Gotham police force/city works/public servants/elected officials? Bunch of freaking idiots. What a crew.
Favorite line: You suspect one of the richest, most powerful men on the planet of moonlighting as a vigilante who beats violent criminals to a pulp with his bare fists, and your "plan" is to blackmail him?....
Good luck with that.
Morgan Freeman delivers a great performance as Lucius Fox.

I watched the movie for free when it came out (brother won tickets) and I went back to see it again at a different theater (better sound system). And I bought the DVD last month. I think the Joker's performance is amazing. Yes, even better than Nicholson. I watched the DVD on Christmas and I still get freaked out.
