So I'm watching that show operation repo, and the tough guy matt trespassed on someones property, hes getting arrested by THE POLICE and the stupid boss louie come flying up this residential street and slides to a stop behind THE POLICE. How stupid can someone be, but this entire show looks staged

Duh..

Is there anyone here who's ever worked in the Collateral recovery business?

I find it a bit Ironic they are using the Lo'comotions Sling lift, instead of something more like a Minute-man, Or a newer Frame lift.

The equipment is what makes the business, all i have seen is that low budget setup with some mouthy pricks and a TV crew, that show is so far from real i quit watching.....

While I agree with you that the show is BS. I disagree that the equipment makes the business. A good friend of mine STARTED his business doing "hard repo's"... with no truck. Two guys, one breaks into the car, the other knocks on the door; "Hello, I'm so and so and I'm here to repossess your car. We have a truck around the corner waiting to pick your car up. You have two options, hand over the keys, and we'll give you 5 minutes to get your belongings out of the car, or we hook it and tow it, and you never see your stuff again."

Works about 75% of the time.

That woman is the biggest woman I've ever seen that is able to walk under her own power and not need a lark. I was laughing so hard I was crying when she couldn't fit in that VW.

You guys really think that it is all staged?

I use to repo for a big outfit here in St. Louis MO. Our ploicy was no contact was the best.
the best lift I used was a eagle claw stinger. that thing is really cool. you just drop it down and back up on the wheels. The stinger will wrap around the tires and lock in place. If the car was in the right position I didnt even have to get out of the truck except to check the VIN.
The law in Mo is that we could go on private property to take a vechile, but if the owner caught us and was real persistant then the cops would make us leave it due to it being a cival matter.
If you are in danger of lossing your ride the best way to keep it is in a garage or another car parked in front of it. I have seen repo people move private car's out of the way to get to their car, but that is aginst the law.
I believe what comes around goes around, but those were some very exciting times.

I did it back when I was 17 in the late 60's but did not know I was doing it, my neighbor worked for a finance company and he would take me to a shopping center, industrial parking lot, etc, pull up in front, back, next to a car, hand me a set of keys and have me drive it to his office building. Every car they financed they had a set of keys for. He'd pay me $25-$50 a car. It suddenly dawned on my a couple of years later what I had been doing and he confirmed it one time when I was home on leave. I felt kind of bad about it, it's not the kind of job I would want or knowingly do.
