Ok, I am blind

On a 90 4.0L xj where the hell is the temp sensor? its not in the thermostat housing, i dont see it anywhere on the head or block. help

There are actually two. Now do you feel even more blind????

The one for the gauge is mounted on the drivers side top rear of the head and has a single wire running to it. The one the ECU uses is in the side of the block on the drivers side, down by the motor mount.

There's a third one located on the driver side radiator that operates the electric fan.

its for the guage. i just went out and poked around on top of the engine and under it. i cant seem to find it. i did find a single purple lead with a 90 degree ruber connector laying ontop of the intake. that would explain why the guage doesnt work.

the one for the gauge is all the way on the back of the head, on top, drivers side, practically under the MAP sensor.
If the wire is laying out I wonder if the top wasn't broken off the sender, would explain why you can't find it.
