Cruise Control Problem!

2000XJ, automatic 4.0L, factory cruise on steering wheel


my cruise control would not set for the longest time. i tried it tonight and it seemed to set at the desired speed but then it would slowly fade about 5 mph and eventually kick off. also it seems that when i would set it the speed would drop some before it caught.

it used to work perfectly and one day just kinda stopped.

any ideas? hoses or wires to check?

have u checked vacuum at the cruise under the hood?

I would start at the vacuum ball behind the front bumper and follow the rubber line into the engine bay making sure that line is not cut/damaged or unplugged. When I installed my front bumper I accidentally pulled the rubber line from one of the connectors and essentially lost vacuum for the cruise control and had the same problems that you described. I hope this helps.
