hey Im looking to get some more jeeps at the house, but i cant think of any places that specialize in off roading vehicles. I was checking at mt. zion offroad in dover pa. I didnt find anything there that realy interested me. Im looking to trade in my fiances liberty and get her a jeep thats already built up. does anybody know of any places that have lifted vehicles in pa or surrounding areas. I live in york pa so im not looking to drive like a couple hundred miles just to not find a decent rig, but im running out of options and ideas because i dont know of anyone who sells jeeps already built up.....anybody know of some shops or dealerships with rigs for sale????

why would you want a pre-built jeep?

I remeber seeing a dealership in colorado springs that had multiple lifted vehicles, but the 02 Duramax on the 5500 frame along with leafs the size of my little heep and 42" super swampers....dually is what caught my eye, but i cant for the life of me remeber what it was called.

I wouldn't trust any work a dealership does to a lifted Jeep. They aren't going to account for any drive line or steering issues and chances are you'll be in there fixing it all in no time. All the jeeps I've seen listed are only for show with shitty lift products and the mark up on them is absoloutely insane. They are just looking for some sucker to buy it, because the amount they jack these things up is 3x what it would cost to lift it yourself.

Of course that is only my opinion. If you've got the money, why not?

Outten County Chrysler in Hamburg, Pa. is the only one I would trust in this area. They are very active in quite a few local Jeep clubs. Call them and ask for Brian Moyer, he is the head of their parts department. He can (at the very least) get you set up with the right person to talk to in sales.

You can tell him you heard about them through me. He knows my screen name.

and if you check the ebay stores there is a dealership in PA that has a buttload of lifted jeeps, just can't seem to find it

I was going to recommend Outten as well. Outstanding dealership... and they are the main sponsor for Blue Mountain Jeep Club. Couple of my friends bought Jeeps through them, one was lifted as requested and rolled into the payment.

Brett is the salesperson Brian will refer you to.

You can also drop my name as well as Andy's. He knows me as John B. Outten/Brian was also very supportive when we created the NAC, supplying raffle items and the like.

Shop around, get your best price, then call Outten... you'll see. Both my buds saved ~$3K on the best price they found elsewhere.

yea i keep looking for either dealerships or offroad specilty stores like hoaks, national 4wd center, or mt. zion but they are the only ones around here that i know of that have vehicles for sale. the vehicle doesnt neccessarily have to come from a dealership just a shop that deals with vehicle sales and financing is enough. i want to trade in a vehicle and get a loan for a new one thats my hang up. we would normally build up the jeep ourselves like ive done with my previous ones but right now i dont have the time to invest or the money on a build up so im just going to get one already built up

Don't kid yourself... any, all, and every built up jeep WILL require your time and money... You ever let yourself think otherwise, you're dreaming. Sorry for the reality check :)

If anything, just sell the liberty, get an XJ, and if anything just do 3" and 31s, thats the best compromise IMO...

i already have 2 xjs one on 35s one on 37s. this jeep isnt for me. trust me i know about putting in time money blood and tears. this is for my fiance. She wants to start wheeling but wants he own rig. she doesnt want to drive mine. shes actually not even looking for an xj shes leaning towards a 4 door rubicon or something similar. she really just wants to get rid of her libby and step it up and buy a rig. but between college and working fulltime she and I cant afford school plus another build up. so were going to get rid of the pos liberty she bought a while ago and get a real rig. then modify it as we can. but she wants a rig with a good start so she can keep up with me on the trail.

December 28th, 2008, 21:35
Yeah, I just figured with being on a tight budget, an XJ might fit the bill nicely... Can get a nice late model limited for much cheaper than a 4 door rubi, and build it up quite a bit before you get to the same amount of $$...

pyrothugg
December 28th, 2008, 21:40
yea thats but then we still have to deal with getting rid of her liberty she owes like 12,000 on it and will never get that back out of it so were going to just go all out get a built rig for her take out a new loan and tack it on to what she owes on the liberty. I told her ittd be cheaper to do it like that and build it up from nothing but she wants to wheel asap and to keep up with my rigs she wants a pre-built jeep.

New Jeep are awesome!

Just remember, if she already owes more than the Liberty is worth, rolling that debt into a new car loan is just going to make things worse. In a few years, she'll be in a much worse spot than she is now.

Eventually, she is gonna have to cough up the money to pay off that deficit ... and the sooner the better, cause its only going to get bigger.

truer words have never been posted

if you have to, sell the liberty and swallow the loss, then start shopping for another jeep

yea we know but its a liberty and to put a real lift on a libby u need to put a solid axle up front spend tons and tons more then the stupid libby is even worth and then its still just a lifted libby. not a real jeep. yet the question still stands does anybody know of any places that sell already built rigs? i actually may let her trade in one of my to rigs with her libby to put a little more cash towards a decent rig but first i gotta find one. any help would be appreciated by the both of us. thanks

I know that FREEHOLD Jeep will install a lift in any jeep that you buy from them - what their markup is, I don't even want to know. From what I gather, they use Superlift kits of your choice. I have heard, BUT CANNOT CONFIRM that they will warranty the parts since they installed the lift.

I am in no way affiliated with this group. I would STRONGLY recommend that you contact them and verify this before you buy

Freehold Jeep is in Freehold NJ

Chances are, 99% of the lifted vehicles sitting at a dealership have issues and will need more money to truly make them trail worthy.

Have you thought about finding a nice used stock Jeep, then taking it to an offroad shop to have them install the lift? That way you know exactly what you are getting, and you get pick what goes on.

Also, are you dead set on getting the vehicle from a dealer? Craigslist, ebay, and all the Jeep forums are a great resource for finding Jeeps that were lifted properly.

I bet if you posted up your price range and "wish list" for the new Jeep, the guys on here would have four options for you by the end of the day.

Outten will take any Jeep off the lot and put the lift you want on it. They are dealers for RE and some of the other lift mfgs and can pretty much get whatever you want.
None of that "you voided the warranty when you lifted it" crap from them either.

our main hangup is the liberty, we have to get rid of it, and we still owe money on it no-one is going to want a liberty with trail damage.... and still owe payments on it. except a dealership or other place that sells vehicles that deals with trade-ins. otherwise i would look into other routes such as craigslist or here on naxja or ebay or anyother ways of getting a vehicle. but getting rid of the kj is our main problem. we need financing because of us both being in school and all that junk. its not a purchase that has to be immediate but we would like to get it before we have the next semester start for college. if it wernt for the stupid liberty we would go out and start from scratch our a jeep with some mods and then just put more into it as we got the money. which there in lies another problem. trying to save for our wedding and building up a jeep at the same time plus fixing things that break and pay tuition. thats why we both kind of said well just get her a rig thats already built up .

5spd_xj
January 1st, 2009, 11:23
well, ya said you've got 2 rigs, right? Why not just sell the liberty, get out of that debt, and have her use one of the ones you've already got? If you're that bad off with the money situation, it really just doesn't seem like the best route to go, buying a Jeep to be wheeled, and being stuck in a loan, while as you say, saving for school, a wedding, etc...

my .02 :)

good luck with whatever ya decide on doing

that was my initial thought to but she cnt drive stick and ive already went through one clutch trying to teach her and both my rigs are stick

gotcha. I know the feeling, 2 ax15s here :) Although, my girlfriend has been doing pretty decent with it. I think the main thing is just keep her calm and tell her she's doing good so she doesn't get pissed, because when they get pissed it's always your fault :D haha.

found some more places so far i have damjeeps.com- only sells older jeeps, jeff daniels jeeps- only sells older jeeps, hoaks 4wd, mt zion offroad, national 4wd, outten, and steves jeep country- which is a little out of my way. were actually looking for a newer vehicle not a cj or other old vehicle because this rig is also going to be her dd. and she wants a rig that is moderatly decent on and off road yet lifted with like 33s or 35s. she also is leaning toward something with some room in it like a 4 door vehicle or a jp with an extended tub or something like that. does anybody know of any places with rigs like that for sale

pyrothugg
January 1st, 2009, 11:48
yea the first day trying to teach her how to drive stick she almost took out one of my rigs and then when i took her to a parking lot she kissed a pole with my bumper so yea im pretty sure driving stick just isnt for her although i keep trying to teach her. i just think that for her an auto would be easier.

5spd_xj
January 1st, 2009, 12:06
yeah. i've only let mia drive either of mine in parking lots. she actually did better in the big jeep, gearing is a friend when learing to drive a 5 speed :) i basically just explained it all to her, whats happening when it bogs, when its revving too much, what the friction point is, etc. then just to give it enough gas so it doesnt bog, but doesnt rev up too high, and to find the friction point, blah blah. just took it real slow with her and once she understood how everything was working she did much better. Just a thought I guess, cause if you can get her to drive a 5 speed, you would be in good shape I'd think,no?

pyrothugg
January 1st, 2009, 15:45
yea but after the last couple of incidents with me teaching her she says she has no will to learn and just would feel a lot more comfortable with an automatic

pyrothugg
January 3rd, 2009, 14:29
well i talked her into keeping her stupid liberty and taking my other rig and droping a new transmission in it. my buddy is going to do all the work for 2 cases of beer and all i gota work about is getting the transmission. i guess it was an okay compromise. but thank you everyone for your help

Try here:http://www.adamsjeep.com/default.asp?newused=0. They have their own in house off road shop and sponsor a Jeep show every year. I've never dealt with them personally, but I've never heard anything bad about them either. Their on 95 about 30-45 mins. north of Baltimore.
