Hi guys my step dad just bought one of those funky looking new FJ's hes usually the conservative type and buys things like corollas and camrys but he needed something to haul his and brothers harley to the various festivals like sturgis (OR maybe seeing that muddy jeep in the driveway made him want 4x4:wierd:)..he went all out he got the stock subs and skids, locker, all the factory junk.. we took it wheeling and it is the most awkward thing in the world...its so god damn tall yet u get the sucker on and incline and it has no inkling to tip...plus it can forge some serious water.. we bust balls though he says that jeeps are for swamp yankees:dunno: and i say its supposed to be for 4 wheeling and it has IFS??? its like a lifted camry!!! this 4 some reason makes him incredibly mad.. his retaliation is "well the commander has ifs!!!" its a never ending battle but i'd have to say that its pretty cool (ugly as sin) but pretty cool... id like to hear what u guys say about the FJ wether it be bad or good ( i need something to throw back at him in the ball busting sessions)

If you build it up like the Ultimate FJ in the 4 wheel rag it would be cool. Otherwise I think it's pretty...um..lastara

Lockers don't do chit for looks. I thought it might be kinda cool when I was seeing the ads but then I saw one in town over the summer and threw up in my mouth a bit.

I bet the tailights cost $300 a piece, and for that reason they made them hang out the side of the vehicle so if someone actually does wheel it they will knock them off on a tree :)

If you break a tailight will the body deflate? Nice concept but thats alot of sheetmetal.

my friend also has one, it held its own when we went up to bigbear. But in the looks department its horrible, correct me if im wrong but one of the car magazines i read had an article about it and the reporter talked to the desighner and he got his inspiration from the old fj (yah right) and the physical charcteristics of a bulldog, YES A BULLDOG!!

lemme explain just how lastara the FJ really is.. When you get in you think o shit a truck and expect to climb into the seat..but no its like a friggin mini cooper you fall into the seat which is set down into the thing...on top of that you have no windows on the side to see out of... i feel more comfotable driving my mitso fuso cab over at work blind spot wise...then toyota proceeded to put THREE FUC**N windshield wipers.. THREE!! The mirrors have to have 3watt indicator lights in them because the head lights are so close together that you can't see in the dark the 7 feet that stick out beyond them..the sub box looks liek something my mom grows flowers in and the speakers are in the headliner...i believe toyota dudes sat down and were like jee how can we make the wackest most convaluted suv that will sell?? to add to the queerness it calls itself the FJammer when u turn it on... more like ass rammer

The only part i give it credit for is that it comes with stuff youd want, it might not look or be the exact stuff but: subs, lockers, bfg ats, and skids/rockrails are all things we have to buy aftermarket that they put on factory

no windows on the side to see out of.

I've always hated that blind spot ever since I saw the concept pictures.

THREE FUC**N windshield wipers

The windshield is short - that's the best way to get maximum coverage with the wipers for the shortie. MB did this as well back in the day.

The mirrors have to have 3watt indicator lights in them

I dunno, they're totally pointless but I think they could be cool. Give 'em 50 watt halogen bulbs on a pan and tilt swivel. That'd be cool.

speakers are in the headliner

That's not so bad. Depending on aiming it may sound good and plus you'll never sink 'em!

Honestly, I like them! Blue, Silver, or yellow would be my color choice. The whole IFS thing isn't a problem because I would not be out wheeling a brand new 2006 vehicle, thats what the 88' is for. Give it fifteen to twenty years and you will see them with SAS and 35's just like the Toyota pickups, and we all know what they are capable of.

Future of wheeling: Liberty's, 4-Door Wranglers, FJ Cruiser's, and H3's I can guarantee it. Some kid will get a liberty as his first car and do the same thing im doing with my XJ. Times change people gave the XJ a bunch of crap for having a unibody and still do, look how we proved them wrong.

I would take one anyday for a DD! (But then again my XJ is pushing 225,000 miles and it sounds like a diesel)

It's a Toyota. It'll last forever and probably do really well offroad. It may be ugly, but it's growin' on me and I wouldn't be afraid to beat the hell out of it.

I'd run the crap out of this rig. Very capable out of the box. More capabe than 90% of the rigs Jeep is currently producing.

whoa whoa whoa

im sorry but i just cant bring myself to believe that the future of wheelin is in the soccer-mom 3.7L liberty.

Unless of course in the next 15 years the definition of "man" changes to someone without testicles.

Was down in Tellico on Memorial Day. There were 2 kids with a stock brand new one. It was the day before we were leaving and wheeled a light day. They came along. I was impressed with how well it did. He had rocker guards and used them. He tore the front bumper cover off. But it did great. I was impressed with it stock.

That's funny, I'm sure plenty of CJ guys said exactly the same thing in 1983, when Jeep was introducing the soccer mom XJ.
