low idle problem when cold outside

my 96 4L is idling at 250-350 rpms

any idea

when warm outside idles around 700:viking:

Idle air control solenoid or the temp sensor for the computer, not the gauge. Try cleaning your throttle body and IAC valve first.

actually i think its the battery casuing the problem
my lights and stuff were all kinds of dim

Load test your battery. Remove battery cables and freshen connections on cables and posts. Your engine doesn't like it when there is low available battery voltage. It may be something else but gotta ensure electrical is up to snuff before you move on...Good Luck!
