Just want to say thanks for the guys that came over on Sat and gave me a hand with the start of the repairs.
AZXJ and Kraker and Alex. You guys had to put up with a lot more than just wrenching. Thank you.

Also thanks to CDHowell (Bedliners & More, Casa Grande).

As for the wrenching. The plan was to drop the front axle and weld up the shock mount plate, pound the axle side lower control arm mounts back straight and cut off the frame rail side lca mounts and get ready for the RK LA kit (hopefully to arrive this week).
Got the axle out. Why doesn't the pass side shock retract? Uh oh. Wow, that bar pin is awfully bent. Hmmmm, the pass axle side lca mount is ripped from the axle. This doesn't look good. My little welder and my limited welding skills aren't up to this job.
Got the pass side frame rail lca mount cut off. HF sawzall blades suck!!!

Drove to Casa Grande today and dropped off the axle with Charlie (CDHowell) who's going to install new lca mounts on the axle and a few other goodies.

Hopefully, axle is back in the rig in time for 3 Feathers and then New Years Eve.

Thanks guys.

sounds fun wish i lived closer to you guys so i could lend a hand/drink beer

hope you get it all buttoned up in time.

i like the milwukee blades for the sawzall, the 12in ones are great
but for a job like the frame lca bracket you cant beat a torch

So drive on down with the torch and we'll/I'll cut them off and you can drink beer :D

I picked up several 6" dewalt blades from Lowes. They worked great on the exhaust mod I did tonight. I'll work on the rest of the CA mounts this week and will be ready to install when Charlie gets done with the axle and the LA kit gets here.

Hey JJ, it's supposed to be around 20 for the low this week. Your kind of weather.

Glad you got a hold of Charlie boy, Im sure he'll make it work. Im also glad to see that this post has a happy/satified tone to it, cuz I know when we are fixing our junks and when we encounter an onbstacles, it could be a drag. Good Job John, and always thanks for the hospitality!

The welding part is no problem .25 thick brackets on the way. The old stuff will be cut off today. Its almost a shame to do this much work to a D30. WE may need to talk!!!

At least it is time better spent on the 30 and not the 35....
What's the status on my cool parts?

Did you go with the Ballistic stuff?

OddBallXJ
December 15th, 2008, 19:56
No. The one you showed me doesn't have CA mounts. It has coil bucket, track bar and shock mounts. Had to buy the CA mounts separate. Too much $$$$. Ordered CA mounts from RuffStuff. Charlie was going to put on new shock mounts too. Save some $$$$. Ordered new spring retainers from Ballistic though.

Talked with RK yesterday, Arms were in powder coat and ship today. Should see them Friday. Ca mounts should be here tomorrow. Only problem I see is this cold weather is causing my welding lense to fog up. OK so I don't see. HA HA HA

I'll have an axle ready to go in. Just received spring retainers from Ballistic, yesterday. I'm hoping I have some control arms to install.

As for the lense fogging up- quit breathing so hard :star:
