Quick question fellas: Anybody have a trailer I can borrow/rent for cheap? Or know of a relatively cheap place to get one. Uhaul is pretty expensive for a weekend, so I thought I'd ask in advance.
My list:

all in all about 1 days work.new adendum, now i need to weld all new bracketry to the axle housing, mainly coil buckets and new track bar mount ( the waggy steering was hitting them and the track bar ) but i will redo the control arm brackets and cut off the UCA bracket on the dif as i am going to the single radious arm on the pass side and just the lower link on the drivers side and i am adding an T beam type truss for the limiting strap and i need to redo the shock mounts as well, i will incorporate them in to the LCA mounts.
next will be in a week or two i will be installing the locker in the 30 and the alloy shafts.
all in all about a day and a halfs work i think.

Driving home from Modesto today while towing the XJ flat, the tow ball broke off and I lost the Jeep. Even worse, the safety chain snapped the screw link, so there was no connection between the vehicle. Long story short I managed to get it stopped, but the tow bar folded under when it hit the ground. Twisted the winch bumper up perty good. Sheered one bolt on Pass. side, and ripped the "frame" on the other side.
So...My new list
Make new bumper mounts that go waaayy back on the frame.

My jeep goes on jacks tomorrow.
Removing the front axle, front suspension, steering and steering box.
Frame stiffeners go on, drop brackets go back on, HD trackbar setup, new steering box with brace and trackbar brace.
New d30 gets 30 spline arb installed with 4.88's on Monday, new balljoints, WJ knuckles with 30 spline inners/outers and CTM's.
Axles goes under jeep, steering gets hooked up, and I build a trackbar. Shoehorn the new bilstien 7100's under all 4 corners, rig some sort of limiting strap.
Get the arb compressor, solinoids and lines in, wiring.
I -MAY- make it to JV. If I'm close to done I'll skip JV to finish it, as I have another run the following weekend. If I'm done I'll come out to JV for a shake down.

So the ball broke off or the nut came off?
Problem found. Bought at walmart. Slide in was rated at 6K lbs., ball was only rated at 2K? Exactly how I purchased it as a set (already assembled). I guess I only looked at the slide and not the ball. Anyway, the ball was the wrong size for the hole, so it worked around until it loosened the nut and finally ripped through the remaining threads. I am amazed it lasted that long, been using it for several years like that.

They only thing I can figure is both of them now have soar knees and chapped lips. And they're rethinking next summer... Why do you think Ron really spent so much time at the shop late at night. Do you think he was actually working on his buggy formerly known as a jeep all that time? yeah, you just go ahead and think that...

The sad thing about this is.......my list hasn't changed in over a month.
I still need to rewire the injectors.....
I have the rear disks, but don't think I'm going to get them done before JV>
I'm thinking that my chances are about 60% that I will make it.
That is to say that the volley ball team has about a 40% chance (or something just under 50%) of winning the next two matches.
I like this whole deal. If my girls win the next two matches I get an all exspense paid trip to Disneyland for the regionals...if they lose I load the Jeep up and head to JV for some wheelin' with some friends!

Whoo Hoo!! 2:45AM and I am done!!!!! Spares and tools are organized awaiting the weight scale to see where they are at. I ditched another 50 lbs just with rewire, misc a/c stuff (compressor still on), and wipers and wiper motor. I am shooting to have my spares and tools under 100lbs. well in the past (about) 2 weeks, I have...
Removed the Currie 3" Deavers and returned them.
Bought some Full traction 5" leafs and installed them
replaced / swapped the two FT lower hiems with newer units
replaced the inner axle seals on the D30
changed the fluid in the 8.8
added close range fog lights in front and one in the rear
installed the 61mm throttle body
added a ECU ground and adjusted the TPS
swapped the hydro front shocks for rancho 9000's
added the front sway bar back in
removed the front swaybar (didnt do much more then setting the 9000's on number 9 in the front)
added in a 10 sub, a pair of 6x9 and a 4 channel amp
cut the hood and added in a hood louver and painted the hood
produced and sent out a drawing to the sheet metal shop for a cargo area box for spare parts.Need to still do..
adjust the e-brake
drain the rear fluid again and add even less posi additive for the ected (it wont stay 100% locked on pavment in the rear while turning, hoping that even less additive will help)
pad the cage in a few more spots
fill the bed of the truck with fire wood
pick up some raffle seats to deliver out there
install the cargo area box in the rear if it makes it back from the shop in time.not much there. Just alot of little crap.
So...... How much wood to bring? how many others are bringing, and are we doing one large fire for all? Also, anyone have a camp stove I can use? mine took the crapola last camping trip and saving up for a nice one still...

I figured if you were spotting me I needed extra clearance. :)
Ask Carol how Ray Pili's spotting was at the pancake rock run. I hear you and her have matching blemishes. :D

I saw this weekend when she was dropping off kids. Funny, we were wrenching and she didn't offer to crawl under the jeep and grab a wrench... :) Anyway, it's 24" to the rockers and still on 31's. Did the front axle this afternoon at Ryan's. It's darn near ready to roll, still waiting on the driveshaft. FWIW, if Sequoia reads this, front shaft on mine was 32 center to center, so we threw it in the rear which needs a 32.5. The new gears livened it up a bit. :) So for the short list.
Drill/install disconnnect brackets for when they're disconnected.
Install brace for pass drop bracket.
Install vent line for rear axle.
Install radio.
Install/swap driveshafts.
Pack

Leave the disco bracket for last, if you don't get to it, just bunjee and/or zip tie. I use to have a bracket too, but it went with the front skid plate.
See you on the trail... and don't say "ready to roll" just say "ready to go" — you've obviouslly never owned a red Jeep.

Alll this time (11 pages), I thought I was all ready for this weekend. Now, I need to swap out my steering box tomorrow. Gonna do the Durango swap with Clean RC's help.
I should be okay, though.

I regret to inform you that I will not be attending this years Goatfest. Due to electrical problems that I have yet to track down, and other obligations that will delay my attempts to repair said problem.
:bawl:
Have fun without me you blood sucking pigs!

Damn...got the Durango steering box in with no problems. But another problem has reared its ugly head.
The chain in my transfer case is evidently stretched. It started making an awful racket today and it won't shift into 4hi without some terrible grinding.
So we took the front driveshaft out until we can get it fixed. But I'll be going out to JV anyway to spectate.

I too will be spectating. Did I mention, Fawk FedEx?
The bastards lost my custom cut caliper brackets which I ordered 3 weeks ago. They misdelivered them to someone else (hope they can use them) last night and I've been waiting all day for them to pick them up & redeliver. Needless to say, it looks like I'm screwed.
I will no longer order anything from anyone that doesn't use UPS. :soapbox:
