looks like they miss the cherokee but are too ashamed at their mistake of taking it off market, that they have substituted this...
edit: it just reminds me so much of a cherokee...

That video really gives a sense of how much bigger the new Wrangler is.
From the side the 4 doors almost look "limo-esque".
From the rear three quarter view it still screams "I'm a Diahatsu Rocky!" to me but I'm starting to warm up to the look of it otherwise.
For me the jury is out until I see a modified 4 door on 285-305s.

Cool find. I haven't seen that before. I am deffinately on the side that says the change is good.

no one else sees DC's little cherokee aspects in ALL of the new vehicles produced? the commander is like a sell out copy, and this new 4 door looks like they were bringing back the cherokee look. especially with the window inthe hard top on the side, being square and all

I saw one at the University the other day and took a few pictures with my camera phone, but I can't get them off the stupid phone!!!
I'd rather have an XJ, but I liked it a lot better than the standard Wrangler.

I like the look, but my 96' cherokee gets better mileage. Someone needs to tap DC on the shoulder and let them know its 2007 (16city, 19highway), that's just an insult to the intelligence of everyone on earth...........

Agreed.
I wouldn't be surprised if a larger engine wouldn't get better mileage with the right gearing.
One of those hemis (ugh, not a Chryco engine fan) with the "selectable displacement" or whatever it's called at around 4.5 liters would probably get it into the low twenties.

one of those 4.0's with the right gearing would do it too.
Hell I'm getting 18/23 out of my 20 yr old MJ.

I cant get used to the look of the Unlimited. I would rather use a rack of some sorts for the extra storage needed.

The 4 door to me is a nice setup, granted it has less storage than my XJ but also having a TJ I already KNOW that for my computer stuff the TJ has some serious limitations, the 4dr wrangler now makes it more practical to buy one. With both kids now on the verge of 'empty nest' [one out and the other heading for boot camp in January] it is going to be in the considering list. Need to take one for a test drive though and see how it rides, wife does not like the shorty TJ with it's AT/KO's, stiffer shocks and bucking on the back roads, if the ride is closer to the XJ that issue goes away, she has a neck injury so it's not just mental, an hour in the TJ and she's on her muscle relaxers.
I'm keeping an open mind till I actually try one on for size, look at the maintenance angle and how difficult it is to work on and wait till the design is finalized, the 97 TJ was changed mid year, little things like slider HVAC controls vs the round ones, different hood, grill and fenders, hood latch, etc which don't show up till you need to replace sheet metal, parking light and maker light plugs, etc and discover this. We went thru that with both of our 97TJ's, we had the early models..they did the change 6 months after they started production on them. It really showed up after my son rolled his and we had to replace all the sheet metal except the tub [boy did that $100 factory service manual pay for itself that time :D ] In the end I would not touch one till at least 6 months into the production run and probably a year.

I was just on Full Traction's website and they have a 3" lift for the 2007 JK Wrangler. http://www.full-traction.com/brand.php?MODELID=24&MAKEID=1
Red Rock 4x4 is selling it, but can't remember the price. That did take long. :)

funny, those rubicons didn't seem geared 4:1. It looked like me wheeling with 35's and 3.55's so many years back. Just really jerky, especially with an automatic. I know with my 3.8 crawlbox and 5.38s/38's (which is about stock ratio of 3.55s/29s), my rig is a lot more stable and smooth. Also, what is the wheelbase on those rigs? Sure looks like 110-115"

You are seeing the results of the V6 and it's good torque ratings being in the higher RPM ranges, no low end grunt like the 2.5 and 4.0 straights...
Get ready for going over and obstacle you could crawl over in one of the straights at 2200rpm and having to do it with a V engine at 5,000 :scared: then braking really hard to slow down...
Noticed that with alot of the V8 ZJ, WJ and commanders while off roading.
