ubolt maint

so I am in the middle of changing my front u-bolts, and after pulling my shafts and seeing them rusty and such I wonder if there is anything I can do to them to help them along.
Would cleaning the rust off and greasing them, painting them do anything, or do I just leave the way they are?

Is there anything else I can do while I am down here to keep things in order?

front u-bolts??? what year/make/model are you working on???

why would you want to maintain bolts??? do you do that with all of your bolts on your vehicle???

since you said you pulled the shafts, i'm wondering if you mean you are working on/replacing the u-joints. so if the shafts are what you are worried about, then don't worry about it. you can sand or wire wheeling them if you want, but i wouldn't worry about it to much.
