frt ds cv joint rebuild?

Has anyone rebuilt the non ujoint part of the cv joint? FSM shows needle bearings and spring in there, and thats the part that has slop in it. Can I pul l it apart and grease it, or is that part of the ds replacable? 89 AT 242 Thanks for any help.

Just replace it its not that hard I just replaced both U-joints and the centering kit wednesday and now my Driveshaft doesn't sound like an angry sparrow as I drive down the road.
