88 XJ, 4.0, auto. Crank Sensor wire fried on exhaust manifold. Re-wired, should have 200mv signal from crank sensor while cranking, and after I repaired the crank sensor wire, only had 20-23mv. So I replaced with new crank sensor and still no fire. Any suggestions???

Tested the new CPS, and it is also only reading at 22-23mv. Anybody else ever had this problem? I know the CPS is a common problem on these, but a new one should have fixed it. I guess I either got a new, bad CPS, or maybe there is too big of gap to the sensing ring??? has anyone on here ever had to adjust by elongating the holes on the CPS to get it closer to the sensing ring?

you probably want this in OEM tech, not modified tech.
