strange noise

I have a 91 XJ i have this knocking sound coming from my front end sounds like it is at the wheel. I only notice it at low speeds should I suspect the hub or ujoint??? what else might I check??

you got centercaps? if you do clean the mud and rocks out of them and if the noise is still at the wheel. u-joint
