View Full Version : Here's a story, of Jeep named Woody..

Who was supposed to be in Moab last night
But brake lines and fuel lines, were holding it up,
After a trip to the parts store, and digging for used parts,
Should have been on it's way, but axle age and swappingLeft her without fluid, and axle bearings dry that made an AWFULL squeal
when trying to be driven to Mecca.
So for now, Poor Woody still has no home, just being fostered for now..:roflmao:
Things I learned when working on an XJ that was bought from Ryan, and worked on by the IC crew..
Screws and bolts get scattered..
The Jeeps moves better with the TCM plugged in..
Fluid levels are for some reason Irrelevant..
They hate Marroon interiors..
Hoods are over-rated..
They replace axles with axles that are older than dirt, and just as well maintained..
:D:D

It was delivered to my house on Saturday, to be repaired enough to get to Moab Last night, BUT, it was close, no cigar though.
I did not buy it, Pat(Dereks(JMAXJ)) cousin bought it.
He is going to call me in the next day or two about whether he wants the axle replaced with a Yota axle, or just wants me to replace the axle bearings so he can take it to Moab this coming weekend.
The saga continues..:D

things that i learned.......
ryan is crazier than i am by putting a chain on an axle that is held on by a thread,
and yes it does shift better with the TCM plugged in...
UTAH COUNTY SUCKS ON SUNDAYS!!!!
it takes 15 min. from jeremy's shop to autozone in riverton...
it is useless to put fluid in an axle when bearings are shot...

BTW did the tranny actually work when you plugged it in?
And as far as that rear axle...it had three U-bolts...more then strong enough to get it to Lehi.
Also...you knew I swapped in a donor axle....the first thing that should have been checked was the fluid.

yes the tranny worked when plugged in.
and when we pulled it in the shop one U-bolt was hanging off the axle and the otheer two were loose as hell......
well the fluid was checked and filled every where else so so kinda spaced it for a bit i guess:D

The one that was hanging....did it break? Or just come loose? I knew the others were loose because they were built for that 44. Not thick enough for a 35.

Sunday and Monday night were very cold, I'm thinking low 30s, but Tuesday night was great, wasn't cold at all. It was my first time taking my Jeep offroad, it's a stock 2001 XJ, went on the Hidden Arch trail at Arches and then took the backway into Canyonlands on Wed. Started raining on that drive but it didn't really effect anything. We stayed at the Sand Flats campground. Site F on Sunday night and site B (the one across from Slickrock bike trail) Monday and Tuesday night. Site B was awesome. If you want to see pictures of it, http://www.gr0m3r.com/gallery/moab_fall_2006. I can't wait to go back down to Moab.
