Man, listening to these armchair retired generals just gets my nads. Whats the difference between a politican and a general....nothing, anyone above an O6 is a $%$## politician...vetted and confirmed by elected politicans and part of the political network.
Because they are a retired 'general officer' they are an expert, BS. If you want a real 'read' on whats going on ask the sgts and captains, lt's and captains even, they know whats what and don't hold back any punches by giving politically correct answers, majors and LTCOL's are questionable as they are headed up the politcal ladder. Just had to vent after listening to some talking head O7 spew the party line pie in the sky on CNN...

And just because some general officer said it doesn't make it come true, I can not even repeat some of the stuff I have heard because frankly it's just is so much hot air after awhile and it to hard to remember.

Sounds like classic bait and switch and or FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt).

Say something outlandish so that the true action will either be ignored and/or seem trivial/mainstream by comparison.

Of the 4 or so generals i've met...i'd only say that one of them was a tool/political pansy. The rest were good people (mix of Army and Air Force 1-3 stars).

Edit: I would question the motives of any officer (active or retired) who WANTS to be interviewed by the press.

Most of the "subject matter experts" interviewed on CNN (the Communist News Network) are 10+ years behind the times.
