Just a quick question about mounting a winch. I recently got a MM9k electric winch. It did not come with the mounting hardware. Anyone know the correct size nuts and bolts? I was just going to go to the hardware store and buy the nuts and bolts there, problem is that the closest thing I can find there is 7/16th's even then I'd have to grind down the sides of the nuts to fit into the winch brackets(this is how the PO had it mounted). Any help would be appreciated.

The one on the right shows how much I'd have to grind off to fit in the bracket.

if it is like the Warn winches you need a 4 sided nut. I can find the size in the morning, mine was just repaired and is waiting to go back on, John

See parts list. Size of bolt is M10X35. Nut is standard hex, size M10.

according to them they only use grade 5 bolts. Should use grade 8 no?

Don't weld it.

I'd use what it calls for.

I've mounted a couple of these. The bolts are in shear, not pull, so Grade 5's are fine.
