I have a 1990 xj. I just bought a pair of diffs from a 1995 xj. Is it worth swapping in the d-30 front differential in place of my vacuum disco. one?

The "diffs" are the same, only the axle housing is different!

Go for it. I have a 1990 XJ too, but my front diff is from a 97 TJ.

When in 2wd, the front is discoed through the t-case. Your '90 is like having manual locking hubs, but it is vacume controled when put in 4wd. hubs, and t-case are discoed at the same time. I guess jeep figured this out in '91. Only thing I see is if you are spooled in front, then the disco 30 would spin free in 2wd.

I plan on buying a front locker so which diff would be better. I'm thinking the disco for driveability.
