Ok, I am changing my D30 from my 90 to one from an 86. It has the gears I need to match to my ford 8.8 and already has a locker and such.
My problem is this, I need the jeep on the road tomorrow, and for some stupid reason NOBODY carrys the right side disconnect seal needed to install. I have Timkin part# 710202 which crosses to a SKF15843 and nobody in town has another one.
So, my question is this. I was able to get that seal out of my 1990 axle without damaging it at all. Can I just re-use this seal? there are no cracks or chips in it at all.

Any ideas? I mean if it leaks a little, it wont hurt anything as long as I keep the fluid topped off right?

Thanks in advance once again.

if you really have no other choice, then sure.....it's an option. but i would still change it out as soon as possible.

actually I had a new one but didnt have the right sized socket to install it and bent the crap out of it. Now nobody has any in stock. So it looks like I will install it and hope it dont leak. It didnt leak out of the axle it came from so I will cross my fingers and toes.

if you didn't have the right size socket to install the new seal, then how do you expect to get the "old" seal back in without damaging it???

go to autozone and rent a bearing/race driver. then when you're finished installing the seal, go return it and get your money back.

turned out that the seal I had was the wrong one anyway. I got the right one and used the method of washers to get it in. Wasnt actually that bad once I built the tool out of washers. I finally have it sitting on all 4 of its own wheels for the 1st time in months. now just need to center the ford 8.8 rear and weld on the perches. GETTING SO CLOSE I CAN TASTE IT.!!!
