Ever thought about something that gets acceptably good milage that you can tow with? The 8-10 mpg sucks when going to and from wheelin' trips.
Just a thought ...

I know it's not a "cool" truck, but I get 18 mpg in that GMC Pickup of mine. For me, that's acceptable mileage. Towing ... I get 13 mpg if I can run 70 mph in OD (>2000 rpm) ... 11 mpg if I have to run in 3rd and 60 - 65 mph (>2500 rpm).
Depends upon what Gils expectations are as far as "acceptable mileage".

I paid 3500 for mine back in '01, and it wasn't nearly as well equipped as his. Served me well as a DD until we moved and I got the Sub.

I was hoping for an MJ for when we buy an house next year (hopefully)

I heard that they put the 4.56's under the passanger seat.

I do know some 2.5 4x4 XJ's had 4.56's. Don't know why MJ's would be any different.

Gil, there is an MJ in E-ham for sale. I'll sniff on it Thursday if it's still there(Wyfe's next Dr. appt.) I suspect it'll be a rust bucket though but, I may be wrong. No details at this point other than it's an MJ. I'll post up when I find any more details.

if you want a full size waggy there's one here for sale. I know the guy, he helped me set up gears.
$800, it's rusted through the rockers at the rear wheelwell and that's it.
360, 4x4, runs nicely.
He was DD'ing it till he got his new truck.

Thought I might add to the list. I looked at both and are in really good shape. I can get pictures if you are interested.
88 full size wagoneer: 360, auto tranny, dana 60 rear, dana 44 front, towing package, sun roof, and much more was done to it recently. Truck is in pretty good condition with very minor rust. Interior is excellent. $1200.00 or best offer. Sign said low miles.
96 two door white cherokee: 4.0HO with just over 200,000 and no leaks, aw4, 231j, crysler 8.25, 4.5" Rough Country lift with other add ons, 32"X11" MTR's and excellent rims. The lift and tires were put on less then three months ago and have less than 3500 miles on them. Interior is in good condition just needs to be cleaned. Very minor rust except some bigger spots on the floor boards. More info if needed. $2900.00 or best offer. Owner seemed willing to go lower by a few hundred. Let me know. They are both in Green Bay.

Gil,
I found another Grand Waggy today just outta town.
Stopped and looked but didn't have the camera.
It was mint, paint in good shape, no rust on the rockers, very light underbody rust.
I got the phone number, I'll try and get pictures today.
When I saw it I said "oooo" and my wife told me no.

Gil -
I haven't met you, but Lawn Cher' has and BOB is driving my previous truck and I think has been pretty happy with it :-) I've got the '89 MJ for sale here: http://www.johnpinnell.com/89mj.html
It's a solid truck and I planned to keep it forever as a weekend DD. Life's changed and as a result I don't have the time to toy with the MJ and I needed a bigger truck since we moved to the country place so the MJ is selling for MUCH less than I have in it.
It has no rust to speak of, I put a 2" lift on it with 31s, and swapped in a non-disconnect D30 and a D44 both geared at 3:55 which is about ideal. I put new springs front and back, new Rancho shocks, extended brake hoses, new battery and cables, fixed and charged the AC. Lots of things I'm forgetting, read the ad above for full details. I've also got lots of other goodies available I aquired but hadn't installed yet.
It really would make a nice DD.
