I was testing my TPS sensor and the Chilton manual said at Wide Open Throttle the reading hould be 4.6-4.7. Mine was a 4.87 and when I went back to standard throttle position it was 4.86. I would think it should have more of a range than that?
Any suggestions?
THanks,

Yes it should, your engine would not run if those reading are correct.
My guess your meter is not connected correctly.

X2 check your meter connections.

Black(-) lead on B red(+) probe on C reading should go smoothly from .87 to 4.87

What year? I have quite a few FSMs, and can probably look up the test procedure for you.
However, it sounds like you're checking "source voltage" - the reference voltage signal that is divided by the TPS to get the throttle opening reading for the ECU/PCM.
There were a couple changes over the years, so I'd like to be sure before I give you any advice...
