Just as it says... Hit some of you guys up this spring when the goat started to die... Have been limping it around for the last few months but it's getting really bad, and I finally have some time to work on it so... Looking for a Peugot BA/10 in working shape located in or near northeast Wisconsin or the Valley perhaps. Oh, Its for an 88 Renix XJ...

Bear in mind that the AX-15 is pretty much a drop-in swap. The internal version will even work withthe Peugeot hydraulics, but you'll have to replace hydraulics if you go with the external (if you get the internal, just keep getting kits for the Peugeot.)

You'll have to move the crossmember back to the rearward set of holes, and get the transfer case and shifter with the thing, but that's minimal. There's a thread on it called "Let this be THE Peugeot to AX-15 swap thread" around here somewhere, even includes observations I'd made doing the conversion on my 88 two-door. It's really not that big of a job - unless something is seriously wrong, it's a bit more work than swapping in another wretched Peugeot...

Thanks for the heads up. I have seriously considered the swap but at this time it appears the cost of swapping in a doomed peugeot over finding and purchasing newer AX and transfercase... Cost is an issue at this point so... unfortunatly probably go with another peugeot.

Depends on your luck - pillage around some. I scored an internal AX-15 gratis, and an external AX-15 for a swap (no cash either way.) So, I'll install the external job, overhaul the internal, and if/when the external goes, I've just got to swap out some front-end parts and I've got a new internal AX-15.
