242 to 231 Tcase swap

is it as simple as pulling the 242 and tossing in the 231? having 4wd issued with the 242, and can get a 231 from a friend, id love to keep the 242 but dont have the time to mess with it, and i really dont need the awd feture

The only issue might be the plug for full time/part time. Find out which pins work for part time, get a matching plug that will go into a 231 and just jumper the part time pins to the old harness. Thats if you want to bother.

I just swaped the 242 for the 231 in my 91 xj. The 231 was from a 99. Anyway.. The only mod I did was the spedo input was different, the plug in..so right now I don't have a speed-o. I am going to change gears this weekend and see what that does..
But it is an easy swap.
