well i put in a new motor about 10k miles ago or so and i am having some issues with what i think is my oil pump. i went and put the high volume pump in there. and im getting some wierd sound coming from the distrib area. it only does it for 5 mins or so when i start it up and i notcied my oil pres flucuating alot. like 40-60 back n forth sometimes. iv heard of some issues like the pump shaft exsploding and such. and this is in my 93 xj 4.0

I had a ford 5.0 do that and it was a bad pressure relief valve

Before you blame the oil pump, verify the oil pressure readings with a mechanical gauge. The problem could simpy be a bad dash gauge sending unit.
