I recently sold my built TJ to UPGRADE to my XJ. My TJ buddies no longer seem to excited to go out and hit the trail with me. I think they do not want to get outclassed by my XJ. The trash talking on my end probably didn't help. I am looking to find some locals to go 4wheelin with, here in So Cal. I have a 00 Cherokee with a 6" Full Traction long arm with the 5.5" rear deaver spring pack, dana 44's and lockers front and rear on 35's". I just finished my bumpers, and installing my rock rails. I shold be putting my rack on this weekend. I am just about finished with the major mod's I wanted to do before taking her out. I am know itching to get my XJ on the trail. If your looking to add one more rig onto your next run, let me know. I live in Forest Falls which is between Big Bear and Yucaipa.

I always thought that place was called Forrest Home (reminded me of an old folks home!)
You will find there are a few of us who live in Yaicaipa (or however you spell it!)
You know about Goatfest yet?
This weekend Matty and I will be downing a few at the Iron Door in Ocotillo Wells Saturday night.
Thanksgiving will be out in Gordon's Well.
Truckhaven is always popular during the winter.
Looking forward to bending some of that body up with you !!!!

*cough* Goatfest (http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=971604) * cough *. Don't know why rick mentioned it, he's going to be coaching some volleyball team and can't make it. This is one of the big socal events of the year. Yeah, screw those wrangler guys, I ended up dragging one of those up Bronco peak a few times when he got stuck. :) Second thought, invite your TJ buddies out, we could use some short wheelbase entertainment.

Your right. I had been eyeballin his rig for a couple of years. It just took a horrible economy and a huge drop in his asking price before I could afford it. Chris did a great job building it. He built it more for the desert, so I have been adding my own goodies to it as well to better prepare it for the rocks.

I found my way and it seems you and my Jeep have already made a name for yourselves. I just finished mounting the roof rack last night and tonight I will be fabricating some mounts for my shovel and hi-lift. Once I have them mounted, I will post some pics. The only thing left to do it toss some lights on my rack and a winch on the front. It's almost there.

you will be much happier, XJ guys are so much more resourceful(obviously a generalization but..). My buddy with the TJ paid an absurd amount of money for his TJ, then with all of his build plan layed out...it would eventually have the same drivetrain/wheelbase as a stock XJ(87-89 with D44 rear/hp D30) minus the cab room:) and the linked rear)He was looking for TJ specific D44 for the rear and they were at least twice the price of an XJd44 used, I told him the reason this is so is because TJ guys can't weld:) Of course these are gross generalizations but it is still fun heckling him.
I still have two XJs so I am not going anywhere anytime soon..
Welcome Brad, look forward to seeing what you have done with the "bonecrusher"

The "Bonecrusher"? Is that what I'm suppose to call it? I better be able to back that up with some serious wheelin skills if that is what I'm going to call her.

Oh, by the way. I called the Deaver co. and they informed me that adding a 1.5" spacer to their 5.5" spring pack would have NO negative effects. A block that small with a spring pack that thick and strong would effect and change nothing. They even stated that they carry blocks and longer u-bolts in their warehouse and I could order them directly from them. There price sucked and I can definatley get a better deal locally, but at least I got my answer. That extra 1.5" will give me a level ride and prevent some of the wheel rubbin in the back that I was experiencing when I took it out last.

If it's rubbing, check your bumpstops. The stock bumpstops are short and contact the axle, which is fine if you have 27" tall tires. Once you start lifting and going big on tires, the tire getting stuffed into the wheelwell becomes your bumpstop. I'm running the new DPG bumpstop plates and they seem to work well. The older ones were thinner and would bend. Other options are a second spring perch with spacers on top of it, spacing the rubber bumpstop down with some square stock, etc. Right now it sounds like your tires/shocks are your bumpstop and neither work well at that.
Here's what I have, but the plate is thicker.

You are right about my bumpstop setup. The bumpstops are the stock ones and they do nothing. I need to get some bump stops that actually have a purpose for the rear and longer ones for the front. I rub front and rear, which should not be happening running 35's" on a 6" plus lift with cut out fenders. Thanks for the info about the bumpstops. Just another thing on my to-do list. My goal right now is to not let the wife see my list growing by the day. She still thinks I have finished the Jeep. NEVER!!!
