A couple of the OH folks had discussed this event and had asked for pictures. The event was a great time and well worth the $20 for the weekend. There was a huge turn out with everything from bone stock to borderline rediculous. Myself and 2000xjclassic showed up from NAXJA and we were out running with the Moderate group. I think we did quite well considering most of the vehicles we were running with were on 33's or larger and we were both on 31's.
There was a lot of mud and water, some rock sections, sand pits, and a bunch of just generally enjoyable trails. There were a lot of good people there as well, and the guy who is doing the organizing is really interested in making it a fun and safe place to go. I'll definitely head to the next one I can make it to

A ton more pictures and a couple videos are on the JeepSkool site if anyone is interested.

Hey ADVNTURR. Did you go and play in the larger sand dunes at all? I was over there for a good part of Sunday and it was a ton of fun. I have a video that I'm going to post up that is pretty good.
Chris
EDIT: Every album I see from this weekend has at least three pictures of my stuck (either in that river ditch, on the rock pile or hung up on those two rocks that are sitting on top of that sand pile.).

Chris,
I did go back into a couple different sand areas on Saturday, and yes it was a good time.
As for your picture showing up everywhere, and it being of you stuck, it is kind of a good thing, at least you were out doing something interesting enough for people to take pictures of. I'll attest that it wasn't a lack of capability on the driver or the Jeep's part, just simply pushing the limits and trying things all the Wranglers weren't willing to try (at least not the ones with 31's).
vincepru,
The 1988 XJ that you saw burning was the unwilling recipient of a fair amount of ammo from 2 .50cal machine guns and an M16. I'm not entirely sure what caused the large fireball (tracer round to the gas tank??) but it certainly was an impressive show. I only wish they had chosen something that doesn't have any value, like a PT Cruiser. There is a YouTube video of the event somewhere around.
Before anyone gets upset, this was done on private land in a high caliber shooting range by ex-military folks. All spectators were at a safe distance.

Yea I bet that engine would have been a good enough free engine for a person to build stroker.

I am hoping to make it back out to at least 1 day of the Nov JeepSkool. I am having trouble with my rear brakes (apparently I did the last JeepSkool with only fronts). Depending on when I get the brakes taken care of and what else comes up (may be buying a new car for the wife) will determine which day(s) I go.

The events are being held on a large hunk of private land in the Mantua, OH area. It's a short drive for most of us here in the Cleveland area, would definitely be more of a hall for someone down in the Columbus area.
Looks like I will only be making it out for Sunday, too much going on tomorrow. Sounds like there are some new trails and the rock garden has been enlarged and reworked.

I am definitely headed back for next weekend's Dec JeepSkool. Not sure whether I'll be there both days or just one, but I have new 31" BFG KM2's mounted up and ready to test out.
I also think I might have a small sidewall puncture from the Nov trip, so I might have to look into trying to get that taken care of.
Hope to see a couple NAXJA folks out there again.

Hmm.... Its looking like a blew a head gasket. But if it is something else that is going to require a rebuild, its not going to be going back together in the stock fashion. :firedevil
But I will be there on Saturday or Sunday with my Dad in his 04 F-150 its a dark blue color with a leveling kit and Nitto Terra Graplers. Feel free to come up and say hi, I'll be the blond haired dude riding shotgun. Just say you're from NAXJA.

Is it just me? Or did I hear FULLY auto weapons?
2000xjclassic

You did hear FULL auto weapons IIRC there was a .50 cal mounted on its own little self powered cart. It was pretty sick. You can shoot pretty much what ever you want at the range there.

Hey Guys!
Just wanted to let you know that a ton of stuff has been done to the place since this was posted. We have a bathhouse with showers and a 2,500 SF oak timber pavilion made from timer harvested from the property. We have added over THREE MILES of rock crawl and miles and miles of trails. There is absolutely something here for everyone. Stocker - What the heck is that thing. Be sure to checkout the photo 101 section of the webnet site to see whats what.

just go to jeepskool.com and sign up on the forum, introduce yourself, and its the first weekend of every month. you have to sit for an hour or so before you go out so you can get "skooled" on the rules.

its probably about an hour from ashland. It is definately worth the trip. Lots of fun. Spend a day on the trail, there is plenty there to please what ever you like; lots of rocks, trails, mud, sand, obstacle course, etc. Also 100 yard rifle range is open on event weekends.
hope to see you out in december.

it won't be december. The junk in my driveway isn't going anywhere until winterfest. Hopefully we can make some trips in the spring though between winterfest and the crawl.
