I need to go on a run before I loose it! :gee:
I up for anything around Shaver Lake. Go in early or maybe the Friday night before. I know I won't be making the hunters happy.

Whats your rig like? Usually the minimun for Swamp is: 31" tires, 3" lift, front and rear tow points. We would also prefer everyone have at least a rear LS or locker. Also , no welded D35's with 33" tires or larger. ;)
Make sure you have armor, if your rig is in the 3" 31" tire range you need skid plates for the tcase, gas tank, and if you care about body damage nerf bars.

I think I have that covered. I have an '01, HPD30, 8.25, "upgraded" 4.5" RE Superflex with 31's (to be 32's in the not toooo distant future). Open front, No-Slip in the back. Skids for tcase, gas tank and Detours rock rails, C-Rok Rear Bumper w/Spare tire carrier and a Rigid Co. front all painted up and waiting to go on.
Things have been a little busy in the last year and I've had a lot more time to build than wheel. :D

Oh yeah - and I could ride down with someone on the 7th, but Gas from sac to Shaver would be tight to swing...
now gas from Sac to Barret, 'con, Fordyce, Moonrocks... that could be worked out :D

It's around Shaver Lake, CA. You should be able to find a map of the area.

My plan was to camp on or around the Bald Mtn Trail. Then early Saturday morning drive through Swamp and hopefully have lunch at Grouse Lake, which is about half way.
I'm going to try to talk my Brother-in-law to go with me, but he already has been on Swamp this year, so hopefully Ben and others will at least meet me there on Saturday so i don't go alone.

Just a little update for me. My club changed the date for our Swamp run to later in the month. I already put in for Friday night off at work so I am going anyway. I am down for whatever plan you guys put together. I would also like to run Bald Mnt. I am going to leave here(2.5 hours from Fresno) early Friday afternoon. How close is Bald to Swamp? I have only been in that area once several years ago. I will be coming onto 99 south from 152, whats the best way to get up there? I will be towing if that makes a difference. Can't wait to go wheelin up there:sunshine:

You are very close, either direction on Swamp will put you right next to Bald or at least within a couple miles.

Well my Brother-in-law has other plans so he won't be able to take me to the super secret camping spot on the Bald trail. So it looks like I just will get a spot at the Dinkey Creek Campground Friday night. Then head out on the trail early Saturday Morning.
I'm sure everyone can find there way to Shaver Lake. Here is where you turn off for both Dinkey Creek and the Swamp trail head.
Take a right turn from 168 just after the Sawmill Restauant this is Dinkey Creek Rd heading East.
I haven't decided wether or not that I will be camping on at Swamp on Saturday night. I guess it depends on how I'm feeling and my two kids. If we do, either it will be at Swamp lake or Grouse, the direction I'm going we will be at hit Swamp lake first. Thats starting from the Bald/Swamp Trail Head.
The run is informal, so bring what you need to stay alive. ;) Also there are no toilets or pits on the Swamp trail, please bring portable toilets or at least shovels. The trail isn't as bad as the Rubicon as far as waste, but it would be good keep it as clean as possible.
I'll bring up some wood for a fire at Dinkey, we should find what we need on the trail for Saturday.

I guess if you paid for a spot it would be ok. Otherwise I remember some parking at the end or at the begining of Swamp. I know hunters leave there junk all over the Bald Mtn Trail.
Talking with the wife, my daughter has Balet practice until 7PM, so I'm kinda rethinking Friday Night. If I don't camp at Dinkey, I find you on Saturday at the Dinkey Creek Campground.

What time are we meeting up on Saturday for those that cant camp Friday?

I'm going to have everything packed up Friday night, so I should be able to leave my house at 6AM. So I should be able to get up to Dinkey by 8AM. I say we should at least be at the trail head by 9 the latest.

Just to clarify ...Are we meeting at Dinkey Creek Camp, or at Rock Creek road and Dinkey Creek road ( the entrance to Bald)? Or at the actual trail head?

I am camping at Dinky Creek campgrounds tonight. I don't know my way around the area very well, so if you met me there that would be great. I'll just tag along with whatever plan you guys put together for Sat and Sun.

are you guys still gonna hit up Bald Mt.?? If so what day and ~ what time? I only ask because I wanted to take my wife up there sometime this weekend and maybe I'll run into you guys. I would go with but Swamp is a little too much for me being open/open on 31's, but Bald is cool....

I dig this photo, very intresting to look at, white rig is on a funky line, front tire is just on it, nice reflection off your hood. All the lines from both rigs lead your eye down the trail in front of both of you, with the winch controler line running up and into the shot, just pulls your eye into the shot (a very strong vanishing point for all you art buffs). Everthing is in focus and sharp, with the nice starbirst, sun reflection hot spot, comming off the B-piller of the white XJ.
For only shooting 5, I think you snapped one really great shot!!!!
