I have a 93 XJ and need to replace my alternator. I have one from a 97 XJ. Can I replace a 90 amp alt. with a 117 amp alternator without cooking wires?

Will higher amp alt lead to a carbeque?

You'll be fine. The simple description of an alternator is a way to "refill" the battery. The higher-amp one os capable of doing that more quickly - it has enough reserve left over to power the added electrical draw many of us add (stereo, amp, extra lights, etc)

You need to get out more, Blaine. We witnessed weekly carbeques when I was in Korea in the mid-90s, watching the Hyundais and Daewoos toasting along the side of the hghways. Great fun!
