Is it too early to talk about the Fall Flog at Tellico? Scott aka NOMO was asking me for details. I am making a wild guess that we will stay at Crawford's again. IIRC, it is Nov 3-5.

I liked Crawford's, nice clean restroom/shower facility. What is State Line like?

Have you been there since the ownership changed? In July consensus was that the place was pretty much being 'let go' bathrooms were not up to snuff, and the trash wasn't emptied all weekend.

Either you never stayed there when Steve owned it or you saw some different bathrooms then the rest of us. I'm thinking about staying in town. SL has nothing but a portapottie. It's a NF campground.

You could stay in the Green cove community. You pass it driving up the river road a few miles before you get to the stateline (from the TN side) incase you don't know where it's at.

What is this "Green Cove" you speak of? Anything like Crawfords arround there with bathhouses besides crawfords?

If you're talking about Tellico... We have a few guys headed that way for November 2-5. We have a cabin reserved near the trails.

Yeah they have a motel there, a bunch of cabins, and a small gas station/food store. Like I said it's a few miles down from the stateline on the river road coming from the Tellico side. I'm sure all of them have hot showers, but if you are going to camp somewhere that doesn't you can drive on up the mountain to indian boundary lake and they have free public hot showers that are maintained very well.

I was at Tellico for the last Fall Flog. The ownership had just changed, so it hadn't had time to go "downhill". I wonder if we sent a copy of this thread to the new owners, they might get the hint :)

I just sent them an email, quoting a couple of the observations. I didn't mention NAXJA, and didn't include any names of members.

Hello everyone,
I received an e-mail from one of the members and was easily able to locate the club responsible for the slam. I would like to state that I do not appreciate a slam on the forum without some type of chance to maybe see what the issue might have been. If no one makes a commit while they are here I can not do anything about an issue that may come up. The first issue is that this campground is far from going down hill, in fact it has been an uphill battle since I took over the place trying to make the place a little nicer. This has been at my own expense (NO CHANGE IN RATES SINCE I TOOK OVER). I have been steadily hard at work updating this campground since my ownership in Sept. 2005. I have cans mounted at every site, and tell the folks staying in the campground that they are responsible for removing the trash from the cans when they either get full or when they leave. I don't charge extra for bags all they need to do is stop by the office to get one. The next thing is the bath houses. The lower one ends up getting used pretty steady and I clean the bathrooms once a day. It only takes a couple of folks who think their mother is going to clean up after them to trash the bathrooms. I assure you that our bathrooms are not run like the ones in the fancy resturants with the attendant waiting for a tip for a clean towel, however they are as nice as the ones in most homes, if people would just use a little common courtesy and respect. It is common since, that if you cover you hands in grease and was them in our sink there will be residue. If you was your hands in the sink like an animal there will be dirt all over the place. Same goes for not flushing, not cleaning off the shoes before entering ect. I take a lot of pride in what I am doing with this campground and would greatly appreciate that you try to consider the situation before casting a judgement on a forum.
Please call me if you have any constructive comments that would make your stay a little better next time.
Thanks,
Danny

I'm glad that someone was able to let you know, Danny, about a little dis-satisfaction with the bathrooms. During our cherokee crawl stay they werent cleaned regularly and Mr. Crawford had a mule or something that he picked up garbage with to keep us from hauling leaky trash bags in our jeeps...not a slam on the trash bags but just a fact that most trash bags leak and it kinda stinks to have trash slime running through the heep.

I completely understand, and this is kinda why I have been having the wheeling folks handle there own trash. I started out carring the trash off, but quickly realized that some of the wheelers were placing gear oil, oil and heavy parts in the bags. Which leaks all over the place and will cause the bags to basically fail. We have a disposal barrel up close to the office for used oil. Also, I don't really know if anyone has actually realized it yet, but I am basically a one man show. I get stuck at the office in the mornings waiting for people to get gas, ice or pay for the stay.
I am not complaining as I like what I am doing. Just looking for a little support from the wheeling community on some issues. I have updated the bathroom supplies to a commercial quanity not a couple of rolls of paper on the back of the tank, which has stopped the issue of running out...which was an issue of the past ownership(Many complaints). I am planning on giving the bathrooms a bit of a make over for next year, which has not been done since they were built(approx5 years). I have put in bunk houses, which were not here before. I have added more property to spread things out a little during the big crowds. I have added "WIFI" (Free) which was not here. I have updated power and added more sewer connections that were not here. Working on a new playground area(May not be important to some without children).
Things to look out for in 2007: Refinished bathrooms, updated entry and office (campground store), adding to playground, adding a coutesy camper to maintain bath houses (If I can locate).
I appoligize if things are different than your last stay, I will try to devote some more attention to the bath houses. I am not "Steve" ,I agree with some of his business ethics but not all of them. Some do like the way things are run around here and some do not. I will do my best to make the majority happy and try to win over the "Nay Sayers". The others will most likely prefer staying in the woods, hotels or even Green Cove, I can't do anything about that.

How about a "beer license". 20 miles for beer is a little excessive...

The golf course has a beer license! Thats because we actually had to go there to get beer a few years ago (it was like a speakeasy, down the stairs, thru the chain link fence....)
