Ok boys and girls. Lets put together an official event befor ethe year is out.
I would like to hear some suggestions for timeframes and locations of what you would like to see. Everyone knows I am partial to the Florence area since there are so many trails there and its very central.
So, I vote for something in the beginning of Nov, a 3 day trip like Friday - Sunday. Trials to be determined by rigs that actually show up.
So lets hear some suggestions and get something put together.

I'm at the Dunes on the 7-9th so please...after that. I want to make a run big time. I always prefer FJ, but I'm totally open to TM. Let's do this ! I'm stayin in Brian's motor mansion - Dibs
Seriously though, camping? I have inlaws close so I could stay there, but I'd prefer to camp me thinks.

I'm in.
Brian, TM is about 1 hr from my house. The road is wide and no trees on the sides of the road.
Who can lead trails there? I've never run any of them.

Just read on VJC that 11/8 is a clean up weekend at TM, so for all those that have posted so far it would appear that the weekends of 10/31 and 11/14 are the only avl weekends cuz 11/28 is turkey weekend.

I like 11/14 to be the weekend we do this. At least that is my vote. And TM trails I will be bringing Mate he has most of the GPSed and knows most not all but most. I will see if a few of his friends would like to go that know those trails very well. There are alot of big and small trails out there so we could realy have a good time for eveyone.

i have reverse and 35s now and working on powersteering/gears and lockers in the next couple weeks. so i should be good to go

I will be at Florence Junction on the 14th - 16th of November with my RV and Jeeps.
I plan on camping just past the cattle guard on the free land where we have camped SEVERAL times before.
For those who want to join, then JUST SHOW UP. We will be there around Dinner time that Friday so come one come all.
Trails to be determined as we see what rigs show up and how built they are.

Mr Pres- how about updating your original post? and include directions. just a suggestion.
Directions from the North or West valley areas- take US60 through Mesa/Apache Junction/Gold Canyon to SR79 (Florence Junction). Head south on SR79 (towards Florence) for 5 miles to Cottonwood Canyon Rd. The turn will come up on you quick. If you're driving south, the small sign is on the right side of the road, at the turn. There is very little warning. Drive East until you reach a cattle guard. Camp will be on the east side of the cattle guard.

How about going out to the Gila River in Florence?? It's a kick ass place to camp, wheel, and drink! It's off of Florence Kelvin highway. Florence Kelvin is just past all of the prisons on your way out of florence(not that far from florence jct.). I go out there all the time and know all of the trails. There's nothing too crazy out there, but it's a kick ass place that very little people know about.

Actually, screw that. I have a few friends and I that're going out to Sycamore Creek on the Saturday morning after Halloween. We're gonna try Squeeze Rock(yeah right;)), then go play at Widow Maker for a while, and when it gets later, we're gonna run "The Loop". It'll be a F**king blast. Anyone that wants to come along is more than welcome. I'll be the only Jeep, so I need the company:D. My good friend Jeremy will be bringing out his heavily modified Samuri, and my buddy Shaun will be bringing his recently completed '66 Scout out for it's maiden voyage. Both of these guys are super experienced and Know all of the trails in AZ like the back of their hands. They're related to the "Dunaway" family. Actually Shaun is a Dunaway, If you don't know who the Dunaway's are, they basically got Shannon Cambell started. Anyway.. let me know if ya wanna go guys! You're ALL invited, the more, the merrier! PM me if you're down!

Ya know...I usually don't say much, but your post just aint right....Posting up a trip in SOMEONE ELSES TRIP thread isn't right. It's almost as if you have no respect for this chapter, nor the president of this chapter. Why even bother coming in and posting a different location when its already been posted and decided on. If you want to invite people on your run, start your own thread.:twak::nono:

Why bother suggesting a different location when the locatin has already been decided on. :dunno:It's no different than two people having a conversation and you interrupting with mindless information that wasn't even pertinent to the original conversation...then, once you realize what you said didn't matter or make a bit of sense...you say nevermind.:looser:
On a different note. It turns out I may not make this after all. My job took a potential nose dive (will know in a couple of weeks), so it looks as of right now that I am out. I know where you'll be, so if I can make it, I'll just crash the party.

If there are people that want to run on Sunday, thats up to them. it will NOT be an official run but have at it and be safe.

I can't make it, but I do have a helpful tip regarding GPS coordinates. For Cottonwood Canyon Rd they are (33.179126,-111.351798). My GPS won't let me put in all numbers after the decimal but it's always within 25-30 ft.
Easy way to get GPS coordinates is to go to yahoo maps in hybrid or satellite mode and right click on the location you want coordinates for and select "Drive from here...". Don't click right on a road though or you get he road name. Now look in the upper right corner under directions and you'll see the GPS coordinates.
I do all my map recon for hunting and wheeling in yahoo maps and log the interesting places I'd like to check out. I also map dirt road intersections and set them up as a route in my GPS.
Have a great trip gang!

Thanks for the great weekend. Nice to see the XJ's kick butt on the yuppie driving JK's. Makes you want to run out and buy a pink polo shirt. Crash running the loop open, open, was impressive. And a big thanks to James for seranading me while I did my wheely. Buying the CD tomorrow.

Thanks for posting pics! Those of us who were out of town all weekend (work) are enjoying living through you all!
How was the loop? When we were up there in March it was a bi-otch! Glad everyone had a great time. I look forward to making the next one!!!

The loop was pretty nasty in several spots. Lots of hanging tires on the narrow climbs and lots of washouts!

Man. I will still on 33's without the RE 5.5 coils and I had a tough time with it. I'd like to try it again soon, though. Good run, guys.
