Yea I guess I will lift it. Just kidding. I started buying new parts for my next XJ build. I bought the wheels and tires. I got a Dana 44 for it, that needs to go to Clean RC for gears and a locker. As some of you know my last XJ got totaled by a drunk driver on Thanksgiving of last year. I am just now settling my case so about to start my build. Here is my old one before and after.

Not sure on lifts yet Andy, but I am thinking RE 5.5 long arm kit. 4.56 gears and locker or lockers(not sure about the front). Bumpers and sliders. I am leaning towards an EXO cage, I am not sure how radical I am gonna go at first. I did go to big bear 2 weeks ago and I am dying to get this one going.

Just go all the way first if you have the money. You know where it will end up just with more money spent in the various "stages" haha

Also, consider 4.88's I have heard they work great with 33's. I don't know personally though.

I am glad to hear things are finally settling with your case. New Jeep looks nice and clean.

I run 4.88's with 33's and love it. I have the pick-up power and cruise speed is fine. I turn about 3K RPM at 80 MPH. Wheels great.

As for lockers - I recommend full Detroit in the rear and a selectable in the front - ARB, OX, or Electric.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Overdrive? I'm on 3:55s and turn 3k at like 70 if NOT in OD.

Of course in OD.... LOL

You can ride with me one day and see. I thought it would be worse, but it's not.

You're "totaled" one isn't too far off from what my XJ looks like new. What's the big deal? :D

Come out to JV.

I have seen a few pictures of your rig Mike and mine needed a lot more than some red doors. I am cool with it being totaled it gave me a free chance to build another one (a do over). By the way what kinda mileage do you get with 4:88s. The mileage isn't a big deal I was just wondering. I am going with a full Detroit in back.
Later Danny

Looks like a Limited? D35 in back. Low pinion D30 in front.

Coolness. You're good to go. BTW... you're going to love the seat heaters out in the desert... in winter.

dude....those tires are beyond Bad a$$! one of my buddies just put those exact tires on his kj, and they are pretty tight. There's not a whole lot of road noise with em, which I'm jealous of, cause my pro comp muds are loud as hell.

s7tech
October 15th, 2008, 06:19
Good to know that they aren't that loud.
Thanks Danny

If you want, I've got a sawzall you can borrow to put them on before you lift. :) The old one looks cleaner than Ricks or Derrick's. :)
