This is a tranny cooler, right?

All the aftermarket ones I've seen are relatively small. This one is quite large. Can this be contributing to my overheating problem?

no, but if you get out all the freeon you can turn it into one

You don't have tranny cooler otherwise you'd see it in front of the condenser. However, it could contribute to overheating if it's clogged with mud, dirt or other debris and keep air from flowing though the rad. I've read where mud can get badly caked up in the gap between the cond and rad that rinsing with a garden hose alone won't get out.

Of course, you need to check the usual suspects as well.

If the jeep is an automatic the trans cooler is built into the radiator. If you are having heat issues it may be a good idea to get an aftermarket TC and just run it through there. it will take some strain off the radiator and your trans should run cooler, unless there is another problem somewhere.
