86 to 98 swap

My Rig is an 86 with RE 4.5 inch lift, AX 15 and RE hack and tap SYE. I found a really good deal on a CLEAN 98 sport auto 2wd with 198 k. What Major, if any issues would i need to address in swaping my built 30/44 axles and lift over? Should I leave the auto in or swap my AX? Thanks for any advice anyone has on this subject.

I think the simplest way would be to keep the 5 speed. It seems like it should be a simple deal, that way your trans, t/c & driveshafts are all compatable. I'm sure there will be some computer issues. If you have an 86 you'll need an HO bellhousing & flywheel but other than that it should be a bolt in swap.
