Can anyone good with gun laws tell me the law regarding firearms in a vehicle on work grounds? Please provide a link if possible. INDIANA is the state.

Thanks Folks

Some gun laws typically go out the window on private property. Meaning if your place of employment says no guns, they can do that. You probably won't get arrested just for it being there, but will find yourself job hunting fairly quickly.

Check with Columbus PD, they may have local ordinances that deal with that. Indiana Code doesn't specifically deal with that issue, here's a link to IC 35-47 - Weapons and Instruments of Violence: http://www.in.gov/legislative/ic/code/title35/ar47/

IIRC since it is private property, it is up to your employer if they want to allow firearms in vehicles. For example, when I worked at Advance, we were not allowed to keep firearms in our vehicles if they were parked on Advance's property.

Edit: for further clarification, call the State Police Firearms Licensing Division - 317-233-5054

Thanks guys. Boss man decided that it would be a good rule to have, although I disagree. I've been shooting in a league on thursday evenings and I'm not about to leave the guns at home, causing me to drive the opposite direction from my destination under time restrictions. Guess my back seat folds down and what people dont know, rarely ever hurts them.

Thanks.

You might want to check your state/local laws about them searching any car on their property. Is your job worth more than a sack of guns??? Park off property.
