what the hell! do they not have common sence, i can't believe these people. they all drive 5-10 mph under the limit, which is by all means ok but they do it in the passing lane. any time there is any kind of sign, construction, a butterfly, anything they slow down and every one of them has to look at it. 15 miles of rubbernecks!
there has been allot of construction in this area, but none of it really affects the traffic flow. they may take one lane out but they put in concrete dividers to help guide traffic and protect the workers. if they all just kept on driving down the freeway there would be only minor conjestion for about half a mile. but they all have to stop and check it out. once they are done creeping by, they all haul ass to the next thing that catches thier attention.
i have driven in allot of "rush hour" traffic when i lived around portland,or. and boise,id. traffic was always flowing at a decent rate unless the contruction had to stop traffic completly. they all knew there was work going on and that was enough, they didn't have to sit and stare at the trackhoe, they just kept moving along at the POSTED speed.
i don't understand why they have to stop and look at everything, don't they want to go home? that could be one of my many problems i am in the millitary and when i get time off it is incredibly important to me. i don't sleep i just keep doing what ever i can till i have to go back to work, otherwise i feel like i wasted my time. this is the only state that i have seen this happen in. i know i'm not the only one that see's this or feels this way about it. and yes i probably am "THAT GUY".

I know your pain man, I was living in Oak Harbor a couple years ago (too many retired people). Now I am in San Diego and it is for the most part completely the opposite.

Most drivers can't merge no matter how many miles ahead they put the 'lane closed 2mi ahead, merge left', those sobs will wait till the last 100 yards to get the hell over. Then when a bunch do think ahead and move you got the asshats in the bmw's and volvo's that race up the empty lane right to the merge and stop traffic. Luckily there are a few tractor trailers that will block that lane once it clears out to prevent it.
LA on the other hand has two speeds, either full acceleration or full braking, no inbetween.
Then up here we get the tourists, out of NYC and NJ who have to gawk at everything and then in the winter they drive like asshats in their SUV's, usually ending up in the woods where I've been known to charge them to strap them out :D It's really funny watching these dingbats doing 50 mph on a snow covered road they have never been on and knowing that a 1/2 mile ahead there is a quick left jog that goes around say the kresge farms corn field or the couple of roads here that have big open fields on both side, get sun all day long and then freeze as soon as the sun goes down, I think it's hilarious watching a Ford excursion do 3 or 5 360's before it heads into the field to sink up to it's rockers in mud....:roflmao: The dingbat shoulda figured there was a REASON I was doing 25 in a 55...and it wasn't just to make them late for the restraurant, the ski area or the hotel checkin...

wow, is it really that much worse than portland?

i remember 205 south being backed up and slowed to 20 for 5 miles because a cop had pulled some guy over.

or when they put a stupid message on the emergency reader board. it was flashing "oregon department of trans" on my way to work this morning, and that caused the whole interstate to loose 15mph

I was driving along a backroad last night behind a few cars who were all moving slowly behind an elderly gentleman looking out his window below the top of the steering wheel, but above the dash. He was going at least 15 below the limit. I'm too old to care about such things anymore, but this young guy behind me in a lifted chevy with AC/DC's Back in Black cranked suddenly leaned out his window and shouted "LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO! "

So of course I slowed down a little...

:D

Pendleton area isnt too bad at all. Once you get out of LA things speed up a bit. Normally takes about 40 minutes to get into San Diego from Pendleton. I friggin hate LA.

yes 205 can get bad, i usually took 84 back and forth from gresham. if i had to go to Milwaukie or salem i would take the back roads till i got to woodland and then i would get onto I5
